(1) Name and details of each task
This subsection describes the name and details of each task. Do not change the files that are used by each task.
- Data maintenance
Updates information related to updated information in order to maintain conformity of data in the asset management database. This task also deletes unneeded information.
After setting up the asset management server, make sure that this task is enabled.
For details about how to specify the tasks to be executed in Data maintenance, see 5.9.3 Specifying the task to be executed in the Data maintenance task.
The following table describes the return values for the Data maintenance task.

- Notification of invalid contract information
Sends email notification to the asset manager concerning maintenance and lease contract information that is to expire within two months. The default is to send notification for contracts due to expire within two months. For details about how to specify the timing to send notification by email, see 5.9.4 Specifying the timing to send notification about impending contract expiration.
To send email notification automatically, you need settings in both Asset Information Manager and Microsoft Internet Information Services. For details about the setup procedure for email notification, see 5.10 Settings for using notification by email.
The following table describes the return values for the Notification of invalid contract information task.

- Notice of license excess
Totals the number of licenses retained and the number of licenses being used in each group, and sends email notification of excess licenses if the number of licenses being used exceeds the number of licenses retained. If email notification is not required, use the Totals number of licenses task. For details about how to specify the timing to delete the summation results, see 5.9.5 Specifying the timing to delete the license totaling results.
To send email notification automatically, you need settings in both Asset Information Manager and Microsoft Internet Information Services. For details about the setup procedure for email notification, see 5.10 Settings for using notification by email.

- Totals number of licenses
Totals the number of licenses retained and the number of licenses being used in each group. No email notification is sent, even if the number of licenses being used exceeds the number of licenses retained.
If you want notification by email on exceeded licenses, use the Notice of license excess task. For details about how to specify the timing to delete the summation results, see 5.9.5 Specifying the timing to delete the license totaling results.

- Notification of unauthorized install
Sends email notification to the asset manager concerning devices on which unauthorized software is installed.
To send email notification automatically, you need settings in both Asset Information Manager and Microsoft Internet Information Services. For details about the setup procedure for email notification, see 5.10 Settings for using notification by email.

- Delete change log
Deletes all logged information about maintenance, assets, and changes except for the information for a specified period.
In the default setting, the history information that is six months old or older will be deleted. For details about how to specify the history information to be deleted, see 5.9.6 Specifying the types of history information to be deleted and the deletion timing.

- Take inventory
Loads into the asset management database inventory information acquired by JP1/Software Distribution.
For the procedure for specifying an option to re-acquire all inventory information, see 5.9.7 Acquiring all inventory information.
For details about the information that can be acquired as inventory information, see 13.1 Inventory information that can be acquired from JP1/Software Distribution.

- Take operation history
Loads the program execution history and the window title update history collected by JP1/Software Distribution into the asset management database.
This task is required when using the Program Execution History and Window Title Update History job menus. If you use the Operation Log List and Operation Log Total job menus, there is no need to execute this task.
For details about how to define the period and filtering for managing the program execution history and the window title update history, see 5.9.8 Specifying the operation history acquisition range and filtering.
For details about the information that can be acquired as program execution history and window title update history, see 13.2 Operation logs that can be acquired from JP1/Software Distribution.

- Acquiring directory information
Loads the group and user information from the directory information acquired by JP1/Software Distribution into the asset management database. Hitachi recommends that you execute this task after JP1/Software Distribution's directory information has been updated.
Note that because the group and user information may be duplicated, you should not acquire this information together with JP1/Software Distribution's user inventory information.
For details about how to acquire JP1/Software Distribution's directory information, see 5.9.9 Acquiring JP1/Software Distribution's directory information.
- Note
- If you acquire JP1/Software Distribution's directory information, you cannot choose whether the existing data is overwritten. The corresponding group or user name is overwritten by JP1/Software Distribution's directory information.

Loads node information collected by HP NNM Version 7.5 or earlier into the asset management database.

- Synchronization of WSUS at user-specified timing
Synchronizes Microsoft Update with the WSUS server at the specified timing.
By setting up a task schedule, you can arbitrarily set the timing at which the WSUS server is synchronized. You can view the synchronization results in the WSUS Updates Management window of Asset Information Manager.
To synchronize Microsoft Update with the WSUS server, a value must be specified for URL of the WSUS connector in the Server Setup dialog box. For settings details, see 5.3.9(1) URL of the WSUS connector.
Set the date and time for this task to be earlier than those for the Notification of WSUS updates task so that notification by e-mail can be sent when updates arrive. For the procedure for changing the date, time, and frequency for executing tasks, see 5.9.2(2) Changing a task schedule.
The following table describes the return values for the Synchronization of WSUS at user-specified timing task.

- Notification of WSUS updates
Notifies the asset manager by email that new updates has been added to the WSUS server.
To automatically send notification by email, you must specify settings for Asset Information Manager and Microsoft Internet Information Services. For the procedure for specifying settings for using notification by email, see 5.10 Settings for using notification by email.

- Do not change the access definition file that is used by the above tasks. To add a new task, create a new access definition file.
