Job Management Partner 1/Remote Control Description and Operator's Guide
In the Agent Manager window, you can receive connection requests from agents.
When a connection request is received from an agent, you can connect to the agent using the Agent Manager window, as explained below.
When a connection request is received from an agent, the Agent Manager window pops up showing the agent that has issued the connection request as an icon in the Agent List. If an agent issues connection requests to multiple controllers simultaneously, that agent is identified as an icon in the Agent List on all the destination controllers. Double-clicking this icon initiates a connection establishment process to the agent. This allows you to respond quickly to connection requests from agents.
The following figure shows how the controller responds to a connection request from the agent.
Figure 4-47 How the controller responds to a connection request from the agent
A pop-up message will also be displayed if the controller is configured to display pop-up messages. For further information on pop-up messages, see (5) Operations performed to confirm the reception of a connection request below. Clicking Connect on the pop-up message window initiates a connection establishment process to the agent.
When an agent that has issued connection requests to multiple controllers simultaneously is connected to one of the controllers, the other controllers automatically close the pop-up message and, in the Agent List, deactivate the icon of the agent that has issued the connection request. If the controller version is 06-51 or earlier, however, the pop-up message will not be closed automatically.
The Agent Manager window settings needed to receive connection requests from agents are explained below.
A request server is required in the Agent List in order to receive connection requests from agents.
To create the request server:

The behavior when a connection request is received from an agent is set to the request server as attributes. To explain these attributes, the Setup page of the New Request Server dialog box is used as an example. The same items are set when changing the attributes of the request server and setting the properties of folders.

Before you can receive connection requests from agents, you will need to start the Agent Manager window and start the request server. You can determine whether the request server is active or inactive, based on the way the icon is displayed.
: Active (blue)
: Inactive (red)
How to start and stop the request server is explained below.
You can start the request server automatically or manually.
One of the following conditions causes an error and the request server cannot start.
To stop the request server:
When one of the following operations is performed, the active request server stops.
When the request server receives a connection request, the agent that has issued the connection request is added under the request server. This added agent is referred to as a request agent. The following screen is an example that includes an added Request Agent icon.
Figure 4-50 Example of added Request Agent icon
When the request server stops, the Request Agent icons that were active under the request server are deleted automatically. The Request Agent icon is active as long as the agent keeps the connection request effective. It becomes inactive when the connection request is canceled.
A Request Agent icon is a temporary representation of an agent that has issued a connection request. This icon as is does not represent information that can be saved (the icon will be deleted when the Agent Manager window is closed). If you want to save information about the agent that has issued a connection request, move the Request Agent icon to another folder via a drag-and-drop operation. Once you have moved the Request Agent icon to another folder, you can save the icon as an item in the Agent List. You can also treat the agent as an ordinary agent and can change the name and description of the agent.
The display of a Request Agent icon is a method used to confirm the reception of a connection request. The following operations also serve the purpose of this confirmation:
Figure 4-51 Example of a pop-up message
The pop-up message will be closed automatically when remote control starts or when the connection request is canceled. Also, when the agent issued connection requests to multiple connections, the pop-up message automatically closes when connecting to other controllers. If the controller version is 06-51 or earlier, however, the pop-up message will not be closed automatically.
It is also possible to start remote control on the agent that has issued a connection request, by activating Remote Control Manager when the controller receives the connection request. You can configure the request server to perform the above operation when creating the request server. You can also configure the request server by selecting the Request Server icon, and then going to the File menu, choosing the Properties menu item, and setting the information in the displayed Properties dialog box. For further information on these settings, see (2) Request server attribute settings.
