4.4.5 Connecting to an agent

Organization of this subsection
(1) Connection from the Agent Manager window
(2) Recording agent paths

(1) Connection from the Agent Manager window

You can connect to an agent by double-clicking the icon of the agent displayed in the Agent Manager window. From the agent list, you can also connect from found agents (the agents displayed after a search).

By double-clicking a Request Agent icon, you can connect to the agent that has issued a connection request. This method can also be used to connect to a request agent that is inactive (whose connection request has been canceled).

When you connect to an agent, the IP address, host name, and path of the agent are recorded in the connection history of the Agent Manager window and in the address box of the Remote Control window.

(2) Recording agent paths

In order for the agent path to be recorded to the connection history of the Agent Manager window and to the address box of the Remote Control window, one of the following conditions must be satisfied:

For information on connection option specification for agents, see 4.4.6 Setting connection options for each agent. For information on settings in the Options dialog box, see 4.4.9(1) Suppressing operations.

The agent path format is as follows. Observe this format when directly entering an agent path to the address box of the Remote Control window.

Format
agent-name - \path
  • Between agent-name and path, place a space plus a hyphen plus a space as a separator.
  • Place a back slash (\) in the beginning of the path. If the path includes multiple folders, place a back slash (\) between adjacent folders.
Example
If the agent name is test and the path is \development-department\first-group, the correct format is
test - \development-department\first-group

Items to note when establishing connection by specifying an agent path
If you specify an agent path, you can connect to the agent if it is saved in the Agent Manager window. An error occurs if you specify an agent path that is not registered in the Agent List.
Therefore, when you want to connect to a newly created agent, register the agent in the Agent List and then attempt to connect to the agent.
