16.3 Scope window

The Scope window defines the application to be monitored and the execution status of the defined application. The contents of the Scope window differ for each of the JP1 users who log into the JP1/AJS3 Console Manager host.

The Scope window consists of the Main Scope window and Sub Scope window. Both the Scope window and Sub Scope window can monitor applications. The Main Scope window can also change modes and definition of monitoring contents^#.

#: In the definition mode, you cannot display the Sub Scope window.

After you log into the JP1/AJS3 Console Manager host, the Main Scope window appears.

The following explains the display items of the Main Scope window and Sub Scope window.

Icon list

The icon list appears only when you set the definition mode. The icon list contains icons such as the business scope and AJS3 unit monitored object. You can create the object to be monitored by dragging its icon and dropping it on the map area.

You can also choose to show or hide the icon list. Choose List Icons from the View menu and then select either to show or hide it.

Mode

The current mode and the monitor status are displayed. The following table lists the contents of modes. For the display contents of the monitor status, see 13.3.2 Monitor status. Only the Main Scope window appears.

Cautionary note

You cannot perform the following operations when the definition mode is being changed to the monitoring mode or vice versa:

Displaying a popup menu
Displaying a status-name tool tip

Performing this operation causes a comment to be displayed as a tool tip regardless of the setting of the Preferences dialog box.
Selecting several icons from the map area

You cannot select an area from the map area and click the mouse button while pressing the Ctrl key. JP1/AJS3 Console View ignores the Select All menu even if you select it.
Operations that lead to an update of definitions on JP1/AJS3 Console Manager

You cannot drag and drop from the icon list, or drag an icon from the map area.

JP1/AJS3 Console View ignores execution of the following menu commands:

- Cut

- Copy

- Paste

- Delete (including when you press the Delete key)

- Auto-create Monitored Objects

- Map Size

- Background

- Monitoring Properties
Displaying the Define Details dialog box

JP1/AJS3 Console View ignores the following operations if you perform them:

- Executing a Properties menu command

- Double-clicking an AJS3 unit monitored object (including when you press the Enter key)
Displaying the Detail Information dialog box

JP1/AJS3 Console View ignores the following operations if you perform them:

- Executing a Detailed Information menu command

- Double-clicking an AJS3 unit monitored object (including when you press the Enter key)
Changing modes

JP1/AJS3 Console View ignores execution of the following menu commands:

- Definition Mode

- Monitoring Mode
Displaying the Sub Scope window

If you select and double-click a business scope, the current window opens without reference to setting of the Preferences dialog box.

If you select and double-click an upper-level business scope, the current window displays it.

JP1/AJS3 Console View ignores execution of the following menu commands:

- New Window

- Open Other Window
Updating the current information to the newest information

JP1/AJS3 Console View ignores execution of the Refresh menu.
Submenus of the Operations menu

JP1/AJS3 Console View ignores execution of submenu commands in the Operations menu.
Starting JP1/AJS3 - View

JP1/AJS3 Console View ignores the following operations when you perform them:

- Pressing the Open Window button from the Detail Information dialog box

- Double-clicking an AJS3 unit monitored object (including when you press the Enter key)

- Executing a JP1/AJS3 - View Window menu command

- Executing a Jobnet Monitor Window menu command

Tree area

The tree area hierarchically displays the business scopes defined in JP1/AJS3 Console Manager. You can also choose to show or hide the tree area. Choose Tree Area from the View menu and then select either to show or hide it.

Business scope name

The business scope name is displayed in a full name in the map area. You can also choose to show or hide the business scope name. Choose Business scope name from the View menu and then select either to show or hide it.

Map area

In the Definition mode, you can create a business scope or AJS3 unit monitoring object by dragging the icon from the icon list and dropping it here. You can also move the created object.

In the Monitoring mode, the icons of the defined business scopes and AJS3 unit monitoring objects are color-coded by their status. For the color of each status, see 16.3.11 Color Settings dialog box. For the monitoring mode, you cannot move the defined objects. If you specify an icon file name in the Define Details-[Business Scope] dialog box or Define Details-[AJS3 Unit Monitored Objects] dialog box, JP1/AJS3 Console View displays the chosen scope or object in the specified icon image. Making the cursor close to an icon displays a tool tip. By default, JP1/AJS3 Console View displays a comment and status name in the tool tip. You can change the contents to be displayed in the tool tip from the Preferences dialog box.

JP1/AJS3 Console View displays the name and comment of the object below each icon. By default, JP1/AJS3 Console View does not display a comment. You can change the settings of the name and comment display method from the Preferences dialog box.

By default, the background color is white. You can use the user settings file to change the background color.

Specifying an image file that serves as the background in the Background Settings dialog box also displays the background in the map area.

In the following cases, JP1/AJS3 Console View displays the map area in gray:

The map area is not connected to JP1/AJS3 Console Manager (in this case, JP1/AJS3 Console View displays Unconnected in the status bar).
The map area is being reconnected to JP1/AJS3 Console Manager because the disconnection was detected.
Screen information is being reread according to a request from JP1/AJS3 Console View because an error occurred in JP1/AJS3 Console Manager, at the other end of the connection.

Cautionary notes

If you delete the icon image displayed during startup of JP1/AJS3 Console View or change its contents, JP1/AJS3 Console View does not reflect the deletion or change in the display.
If you create, delete, or update a background image file during startup of JP1/AJS3 Console View, JP1/AJS3 Console View may display the business scope whose background settings differ from the settings in the background image file. If you click the OK or Preview button from the Background Settings dialog box or start another window in this status, JP1/AJS3 Console View updates the background image file to the latest information.

Supplementary note

For the definition mode, making Line-up Arrangement effective (selecting Line-up Arrangement from the Option menu) enables you to create, paste, and move AJS3 unit monitored objects at equal intervals. However, even if you execute Line-up Arrangement for defined objects, JP1/AJS3 Console View does not arrange them at equal intervals.

Status bar

The status bar displays the message and last access time showing the current status of JP1/AJS3 Console View.

The following table shows the messages showing the current status of JP1/AJS3 Console View.

The last access time means the last time at which JP1/AJS3 Console View tried to access the JP1/AJS3 Console Manager host or the JP1/AJS3 Console Manager host made a response to the request from JP1/AJS3 Console View. Alternatively, the last access time means the last time at which JP1/AJS3 Console View received a change notification from the JP1/AJS3 Console Manager host. (In the Sub Scope window, JP1/AJS3 Console View updates the last access time only when it receives a status change notification or when the window is started.)

Supplementary note

JP1/AJS3 Console View regularly^#1 checks whether it is disconnected from JP1/AJS3 Console Manager. When it detects that it is disconnected from JP1/AJS3 Console Manager, JP1/AJS3 Console View automatically reconnects to JP1/AJS3 Console Manager^#2. However, if it detects that it is disconnected from JP1/AJS3 Console Manager during a mode change or reconnection processing, JP1/AJS3 Console View does not reconnect to JP1/AJS3 Console Manager.

If the The connection was severed message appears in the status bar of the Scope window, you can reconnect JP1/AJS3 Console View to JP1/AJS3 Console Manager by executing Reconnect from the File menu in the Main Scope window.

You can change the default for the intervals at which JP1/AJS3 Console View checks whether it is disconnected from JP1/AJS3 Console Manager in units of 300 seconds. Change this default by specifying a value in the KEEP_ALIVE communication option. For how to set communication options, see 14.2.4 Specifying communication options.

You can suppress automatic reconnection by customizing JP1/AJS3 Console View. If you suppress automatic reconnection, JP1/AJS3 Console View displays the message KAVC4530-Q to ask whether the user wants reconnection before it reconnects to JP1/AJS3 Console Manager. For how to set automatic reconnection, see 14.2.3 Suppressing automatic reconnection to JP1/AJS3 Console Manager.
