4.2 Counting hosts by inventory items

To collect inventory information, first select the collection-target host and then specify the counting conditions and execute. The number of hosts is totaled for each counting category of inventory information. You can also view the hosts' detailed information by counting category.

Totaled results are displayed on the Count Result page of the Count Clients window, as shown below. This page is divided into the Count pane and the Details pane.

[Figure]

Count pane
This pane displays the number of hosts for each item. If you specify multiple separate conditions as counting conditions, generic names such as Item 1, Item 2, etc., are displayed as the inventory item names (column names). For details about separate conditions, see 4.2.3 Examples of count condition settings and count results.

Details pane
This pane displays the host details for the item selected in the Count pane. In the example above, the Details pane displays the hosts whose CPU type is Intel Pentium III and OS is Windows NT. When more than one item is selected in the Count pane, the Details pane displays the details for each of the selected items. Immediately after you perform counting, the Details pane shows details of the top item in the list in the Count pane. If the number of hosts for the top item in the list is 0, nothing is displayed in the Details pane.
You can display any inventory items you wish in the Details pane. Use the View Items Settings dialog box of the Count Clients wizard to set the inventory items. For details about how to set the inventory items you want to display, see 4.2.4 Setting the view items.
