4.2.2 Selecting the count targets

To count hosts, you must first select the target hosts you wish to count. You use the Host-selection window to select count targets.

If you make the selection so that a large number of hosts have to be counted, it will take a long time for the display to appear. Therefore, keeping the number of targets to approximately 100 is recommended.

To search for a host within the Host-selection window, press the character key that corresponds to the first letter of the host name. The focus position moves to the applicable host.

System Configuration page
To count all hosts under a relay manager/system, select the check box for the relay manager/system. If you want to exclude the relay manager/system itself as a count target, deselect the client icon that has the same name as the relay manager/system.
You can also select All Hosts or any individual clients.
If you are managing an offline machine's inventory information, {OFFLINE} (offline folder) is displayed inside the system configuration. The offline folder and the offline machines managed in the folder are also count targets. The offline folder is handled as a relay system, and the offline machines are handled as clients. For details about offline folders and offline machines, see 7.7.2(3) Collecting information from an offline machine.

Host Groups page
To count all the hosts in a host group, select the check box for the host group. You can also select All Host Groups or any individual clients.
Unlike in the Destination window, ID groups are not displayed on the Host Groups page.

Only the hosts displayed on the System Configuration page can be selected as targets for counting. A client that was added to the system configuration after Inventory Viewer was started cannot be selected because it is not displayed in the system configuration. To select such a host, you must restart Inventory Viewer to refresh the display on the System Configuration page.

Note that a relay manager and a relay system cannot be counted unless the corresponding clients are selected. If the client that corresponds to a relay manager or relay system is not displayed in the system configuration, execute the Get system configuration information job on the relay manager to update the system configuration information, and then refresh the display on the System Configuration page.
