Appendix E.4 Converting from Asset Information Manager Subset

This appendix explains how to convert from the Asset Information Manager Subset component of JP1/Software Distribution to Asset Information Manager.

Note the following when executing conversion:

The various modes of converting from Asset Information Manager Subset to Asset Information Manager, and the associated workflows, are explained below.

Organization of this subsection
(1) Installing Asset Information Manager in the overwrite mode
(2) Installing Asset Information Manager on another PC (when Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle is used)
(3) Installing Asset Information Manager on another PC (when Embedded RDB is used)
(4) Changing the display settings in the Device Details dialog box

(1) Installing Asset Information Manager in the overwrite mode

You can install Asset Information Manager in the overwrite mode on the PC on which Asset Information Manager Subset has been installed. Asset Information Manager Subset is automatically uninstalled from the JP1/Software Distribution components.

To convert Asset Information Manager:

  1. Install Asset Information Manager in the overwrite mode.
When using the overwrite mode for installation, you cannot change the following settings:
    • User information
    • Installation destination folder
    • Asset management server's virtual directory
    • Asset management database type, port number, size, and storage destination
    • JP1/Software Distribution database type
For the installation procedure, see 5.2.2 Installing Asset Information Manager.
  2. From the Database Manager dialog box, upgrade the asset management database.
For details about how to upgrade the asset management database, see E.1(5) Upgrading the asset management database.

Note
If you execute overwrite installation of Asset Information Manager, Startup type in Asset Information Synchronous Service is set to Manual. Change this setting to Automatic after the database conversion task is finished.

(2) Installing Asset Information Manager on another PC (when Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle is used)

You can convert Asset Information Manager by installing it on a PC that is different from the PC on which Asset Information Manager Subset is installed.

When the DBMS used in the conversion-source JP1/Software Distribution is Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle, the database that was being used in Asset Information Manager Subset is used as the asset management database.

To convert Asset Information Manager when the DBMS used in JP1/Software Distribution is Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle:

  1. Install Asset Information Manager on the conversion-destination PC.
For the installation procedure, see 5.2.2 Installing Asset Information Manager.
  2. In the Create Data Source/Net Service dialog box, create a data source or net service.
Create a data source or net service to connect to the database server to which Asset Information Manager Limited had been connected. For details about how to create a data source or a net service, see 5.5 Creating a data source or net service.
  3. In the Server Setup dialog box, set Login ID and Service name in Database Information.
Specify the same values specified in step 2 for Login ID and Service name. For details about how to specify settings in the Server Setup dialog box, see 5.3.2 Setting Database Information.
  4. On the target PC, from the Database Manager dialog box, upgrade the asset management database.
For details about how to upgrade the asset management database, see E.1(5) Upgrading the asset management database.
  5. Uninstall Asset Information Manager Subset from the conversion-source PC.
For details about how to uninstall Asset Information Manager Subset, see the manual Job Management Partner 1/Software Distribution Setup Guide, for Windows systems.
  6. Change the settings in the JP1/Software Distribution server setup.
In the JP1/Software Distribution server setup, change the value that was specified for the URL of Asset Information Manager to the PC on which Asset Information Manager was installed. For details about how to specify settings in the JP1/Software Distribution server setup, see the manual Job Management Partner 1/Software Distribution Setup Guide, for Windows systems.

(3) Installing Asset Information Manager on another PC (when Embedded RDB is used)

You can convert Asset Information Manager by installing it on a PC that is different from the PC on which Asset Information Manager Subset is installed.

When the DBMS used in the conversion-source JP1/Software Distribution is Embedded RDB, a database space that is different from the database that was being used in Asset Information Manager Subset is created, and data is converted.

To convert Asset Information Manager when the DBMS used in JP1/Software Distribution is Embedded RDB:

  1. On the source PC, obtain a backup of the asset management database in CSV format.
For details about how to obtain a backup of the asset management database in CSV format, see 12.1.1 Backing up and restoring the asset management database in CSV format.
  2. Install Asset Information Manager on the conversion-destination PC.
For the installation procedure, see 5.2.2 Installing Asset Information Manager.
  3. Specify the necessary settings in the Server Setup dialog box.
There are no items that must be set to match Asset Information Manager Subset. Check the settings and then click the OK button.
  4. On the target PC, from the Database Manager dialog box, restore the asset management database.
Specify the path for the backup folder specified in step 1.
For details about how to restore the asset management database, see 12.1.1(3) Restoring the asset management database from the Database Manager dialog box.
  5. On the source PC, from the Database Manager dialog box, upgrade the asset management database.
For details about how to upgrade the asset management database, see E.1(5) Upgrading the asset management database.

(4) Changing the display settings in the Device Details dialog box

After Asset Information Manager has been converted from Asset Information Manager Subset, the tabs displayed in the Device Details dialog box are set as they were in Asset Information Manager Subset. Therefore, change the display settings for the tabs as needed.

To change the display settings in the Device Details dialog box:

  1. Use the user ID admin to log in to Asset Information Manager.
  2. Select the Customize Managed Items job menu.
  3. Click the link for VariousInfo under Managed class.
A list of the elements in the window options included in VariousInfo is displayed.
  4. Click the link for Text_TAB under Managed class.
  5. Place checkmarks in the check boxes for the following properties:
    • TAB_Contract
    • TAB_Maintenance
    • TAB_AssetUpdateRecord
    • TAB_License
  6. Click the Update button.
The changed content is reflected in the asset management database.
The changes are uniformly reflected in the window operations of all user permissions.
