6.2.1 Chat server operating environment setup

When setting up a chat server operating environment, use the Properties dialog box that is displayed by choosing the Chat Server icon ([Figure]) on the taskbar.

To set up the chat server operating environment:

  1. Start the chat server to display the Chat Server icon.
    To manually start the chat server, in the Chat window choose Settings, Chat Server, and then Start Chat Server. You can also set the chat server to automatically start when the PC starts. For details, see 6.3.1(2) Starting the chat server.
  2. Right-click the Chat Server icon to display the popup menu, and then choose Properties.
    The Properties dialog box is displayed.
  3. Set up the operating environment in the Properties dialog box.
    To save the settings without closing the dialog box, click the Apply button.
  4. Click the OK button.
    The settings are saved, and the dialog box closes.

In the Properties dialog box, you can specify a chat server connection port number and a connection password.

The settings in each page of the Properties dialog box are as follows:

(1) Connection page

In the Connection page, specify a port number that will be used for the chat session.

Port number
Specify the port number to be used on the chat server as an integer from 0 to 65535. The default port number is 30005.
If you specify a value beyond this range, a message dialog box is displayed, prompting you to respecify the port number.

(2) Security page

In the Security page, specify authentication-related settings.

Password
Password
Specify a password that will be used for connection to the chat server, using 14 or less one-byte alphanumeric characters. The password may be NULL (nothing specified). By default, nothing is displayed on this field.
Re-enter password
For confirmation, reenter the password. If the re-entered password does not match the password specified in the Password field, a message prompting you to re-enter the password is displayed.
