4.3.4 File transmission operations

The File Transfer window allows you to transfer files between the controller and agent in both directions. You can also transfer files between agents.

There are three ways to transfer files in the File Transfer window. This subsection describes each operation procedure.

Organization of this subsection
(1) Drag and drop
(2) File registration
(3) Customized transfer

(1) Drag and drop

You can drag and drop a file or folder on the File Transfer window for transmission. The normal drag and drop operation will copy files. To move files, press the Shift key while dropping the files. If you drag a file with the right button of the mouse, a menu appears when you drop the file, allowing you to select one of the following options: Transfer, Copy, or Cancel.

You can also drag and drop a file to transfer it between the system's Explorer and the File Transfer window. In this case, the file will be copied even if you press down the Shift key.

(2) File registration

You can register a file or folder and specify the destination to transfer it to.

Perform the following steps:

  1. Select the file or folder you want to transfer. From the Edit menu, choose Register for Copying or Register for Moving.
The selected file or folder is registered for copying or moving.
Note that you cannot register files for moving if the files belong to an agent of version 05-10. The files can only be registered for copying.
  2. Select the transfer destination (drive or folder). From the Edit menu, choose Transfer Files.
    The file transmission starts.

(3) Customized transfer

Customized transfer is a method of transferring a file to multiple agents in a single operation. You can set the default transmission destination folder, or specify the same folder as the transfer source, so you do not have to enter the destination folder manually.

Perform the following steps for customized transfer:

  1. Select the file or folder you want to transfer. From the Edit menu, choose Customize.
The Customized Transfer dialog box appears.

This facility lists the host names or IP addresses of all agents connected for file transmission. If the transmission source is an agent, the controller is included as one of the possible transmission destinations.
    Destination folder
Specify the transmission destination folder. The default setting is the folder specified in the File Transfer window options. For details on how to set the destination folder, see 4.3.9(2) Transfer page.
To specify a folder other than the default folder, click the Browse button and specify the path.
Destination folder is same as the source
Select this check box to transfer the file to the same folder as the transmission source. Selecting this will display the upper level folder of the transmission file in the Destination folder box, and disable the box.
  2. Set the transmission destination agents and folders, and click Transfer.
The file transmission process starts. If you select multiple agents, the transmission file will be sent to the same folder of each agent.
