Organization of this subsection
(1) Data transfer
(2) Screen blackout

(1) Data transfer

Encrypt the data to transmit
Select this check box to encrypt the data to transmit from the controller to the agent.
When you select this check box, the data you enter via controller keyboard and mouse operations and clipboard data are encrypted when they are transmitted to the agent. The amount of encrypted data is approximately twice the amount of unencrypted data.

Encrypt the data to receive
Select this check box to encrypt the data to receive from the agent to the controller.
When you select this check box, agent screen information and clipboard data are encrypted when they are transmitted to the controller. The amount of encrypted data is approximately 1.1 times the amount of unencrypted data.

(2) Screen blackout

Set up the screen display on the agent PC for when remote control is used. This setting is available for an agent whose version is 08-00 or later.

Black out agent PC display when the remote control mode of the controller is Exclusive mode
Select this check box to black out the agent display when remote control is being used. This check box is not selected by default. This check box is inactive when the OS on the connected agent is Windows Server 2003 (IPF), Windows NT 4.0, Windows Me, or Windows 98.
This setting is valid only when the remote control mode of the controller is exclusive. If this remote control mode is changed to another mode during remote control operations, the blackout setting of the agent display is disabled.
If you change the setting of the check box during remote control operation, the agent display is controlled according to the timing of the setting change.
Note the following when you black out the agent display:
  • The display board and display of the agent machine must support the power-saving mode.
  • Thoroughly check operation in a test environment before you apply blacking out of the agent display. When remote control is used, the CPU usage might be displayed as 100% on the agent PC, or an unintended image might remain on the screen at intervals of a few seconds.
  • The blackout display restriction on the agent might be forcibly lifted. The table below explains when this can happen.

Table 3-5 Causes of blackout display restriction on the agent display being forcibly lifted

    Cause Description
    Communication is disconnected
    • The controller disconnected or terminated remote control.
    • The agent disconnected or terminated remote control.
    • Remote control was disconnected due to a communication error.
    Exclusive mode is canceled
    • The Ctrl + Alt + Del keys are pressed on the agent.
    • A hardware error or system error message is displayed on the agent. Alternatively, the displayed message box was closed.
    • The Windows Messenger service displayed a message on the agent. Alternatively, the displayed message box was closed.
Lock agent PC if the connection is disconnected while the display is blacked out, or the blackout display restriction is lifted forcibly
Select this check box to lock the agent if the blackout display restriction on the agent is forcibly lifted. This check box is not selected by default.
This check box is enabled only when the Black out agent PC display when the remote control mode of the controller is Exclusive mode check box is selected.
