7.6.3 Checking installation applicability according to user-specific conditions

JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 enables you to check remote installation applicability by specifying various conditions, such as the amount of free disk space (system conditions) and the installation status of particular software products (software conditions). Installation applicability checking based on the standard functions of JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 is sufficient for normal operations, but user-specific checking might be required for user program installation. For example, if you assign business terminal IDs to each computer beforehand, you can perform remote installation on only the computers that match the specified IDs.

To cope with the above kind of situation, JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 provides a function for starting an external program immediately before installation. For exceptional operations such as above, you can start an external program immediately before installation in order to check whether user-specific installation conditions are met.

You can specify an external program (to be started immediately before installation) by using the External Program page in the JP1/ITDM2 Packaging dialog box of the Packager. Alternatively, you can also use the External Program page in the Change Installation Conditions dialog box of the Remote Install Manager.

The following figure illustrates an example of checking installation applicability according to user-specific conditions.
