6.1.4 Deleting found hosts from system configuration information

You can delete hosts from the system configuration information after searching for them in the System Configuration window. Note that you cannot delete an agent from a computer that also functions as a relay system or management relay server.

When you delete an agent computer from the system configuration information, that agent is also deleted from any host groups and ID groups to which it belongs. However, the device information for the computer is not deleted.

If a relay system or management relay server performs operations to link system configuration information and ID group information, you can remove computers under the relay system or management relay server from the manager. In this case, these computers are also removed from the system configuration information, host groups, and ID groups that are managed by the relay system or management relay server. For details about the operation of systems in which system configuration information is linked with ID groups, see 5.4 Linking system configuration information with ID group information.

If you have removed a computer on a management relay server, execute a Get system configuration information job from the higher system of the management relay server to keep system configuration information consistent throughout the entire system.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Deleting computers

To delete a computer found in a search from the system configuration information:

  1. In the Find dialog box, specify search conditions and search for hosts.

  2. In the search results, right-click the computer you want to delete, and from the context menu, select Delete from System Configuration Information.

  3. Click OK in the confirmation dialog box.

    The specified computer is deleted from the system configuration information, host groups, and ID groups.

(2) Viewing information about deleted computers

The system outputs information about deleted computers to log files. A maximum of nine log files are stored in the directory JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager-installation-directory\mgr\rmtins\gui.

The name of the log file is rimfindn.log, where n is a numeral from 1 to 9. Each time you delete a computer, the number is incremented by one, giving the file names rimfind1, rimfind2, rimfind3, and so on. After the file rimfind9 is created, the existing log files are overwritten in order from the oldest.

The search conditions are output to the beginning of the log file. Then, information about the deleted computer is listed in the same format as in the system configuration information file. Refer to this information as needed.

Note

If duplicate devices and idle devices that were detected as devices suggested for deletion during device maintenance are deleted automatically or manually, information about the deleted devices is output to a log file. The file name is JDNSTRCn.log (n is a number from 1 to 9).
