1.8 Services window

The Services window is used to manage the programs of the Performance Management products. It enables you to check service status, display and edit properties, and stop services. To display this window, in the navigation frame of any PFM - Web Console window, choose the Services tab.

Only a login user with the administrator user permission can display this window.

The following figure shows the Services window.

The following describes the displayed items:

Menu bar frame

Displays a menu that is common to all windows.

For details, see the description of the menu bar frame in 1.3 Main window.

Navigation frame

Displays the services of the Performance Management system hierarchically.

Except for the following items, the display items are the same as the items in the navigation frame of the Main window. For details, see 1.3 Main window.

Display separately by business group

This item is displayed when the business group access control functionality is enabled. If you select this item, service trees are displayed separately by business group. By default, this item is cleared.

Text box

Use this text box to filter services by keywords. Specify a character string of 1 to 1,024 characters to filter the services that will be displayed. To use multiple conditions for an AND search, delimit keywords by using a single-byte space, a two-byte space, or a tab. A delimiter is counted as one word. The maximum number of words that can be entered as filtering keywords is 100.

Filter button

Filters services by using the string specified in the text box.

Clear button

Clears the filtering status and the filtering condition.

Services tree

When the business group access control functionality is enabled, and Display separately by business group is selected, the business group becomes the root directory. In all other cases, System is the root directory.

The root is System. On the second level of the hierarchy, the Machines or the PFM-Manager folder is displayed; these indicate the same information but in different units.

  • When the Machines folder is displayed at the second level of the hierarchy

    The names of the hosts on which the Performance Management services are installed are displayed on the third level of the hierarchy and each machine's services are displayed on the fourth level. Service IDs are displayed for the service names.

  • When the PFM-Manager folder is displayed at the second level of the hierarchy

    The PFM - Manager services are displayed on the third level of the hierarchy.

    Service IDs are displayed for the service names.

Icons:

An icon is displayed to the left of each component in the services tree. For details about icons, see Table 1-10 Configuration component icons and their meaning.

These icons have the following meanings:

[Figure]: Indicates the root.

[Figure]: Indicates a service folder.

The icons representing services differ depending on the service.

Method frame

Displays the operations that can be executed on each service. The operations applicable to a service are displayed only when that service is selected in the navigation frame.

Properties

Displays the properties of the selected service. Choosing this item displays the Service Properties window.

Service status

Displays the status of the selected service.

Choosing this item displays the Service status window.

Stop service

Stops the selected service.

Choosing this item displays a message box for confirming your intention to stop the service. If abnormal termination occurs when you click the OK button in this message, another message box is displayed asking whether or not forced termination is to be executed.

Distribute Property

Distributes the value of the selected property to a destination service.

Selecting this item switches to the Distribute Property > Select Service window.

Information frame

Displays the results of the operation selected in the method frame.
