1.8.4 Distribute Property window

The Distribute Property window is used to distribute properties.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Distribute Property > Select Service window

To display this window, in the Services window, from the navigation frame, choose the Collector service or Store service of the monitoring agent, and then from the method frame, choose the Distribute Property method. Nodes of the remote agent or group agent are also displayed, and their properties can be distributed.

This window displays different items when the business group access control functionality is enabled and when it is disabled. The following figure shows the Distribute Property > Select Service window when the business group access control functionality is enabled.

The following describes the displayed items:

Cancel button

Cancels the operation, and clears the information frame.

Next > button

Choosing this button displays the Distribute Property > Select Property window.

The button is activated when you select at least one distribution destination service whose product and data model version are the same as the distribution source service.

Finish button

Applies the settings, and distributes the property values selected in the navigation frame to the destination service you selected in this window. When distribution starts, the Distribute Property > Progress Reports window opens.

This button is available only when at least one distribution destination service is selected in this window, and properties are selected for distribution in the Distribute Property > Select Property window, which opens next.

Filter of services for distribution
Pull-down menu

Specify this item when you want to filter the distribution destination services displayed in Candidate services for distribution by business group. This item is not displayed when the business group access control functionality is disabled. The following are the items displayed in the pull-down menu:

  • All business groups

    Select this item to display all agent services you can select as destinations for distribution.

  • Business group name

    Select this item to display the agent services to which you assigned business groups from among the agent services that can be selected as destinations for distribution. Only business groups with the reference privilege are displayed.

  • Unassigned

    Select this item to display the agent services to which you did not assign business groups from among the agent services that can be selected as destinations for distribution. This item is displayed only when the user has logged in as a system user.

Text box

Use this text box to filter services by keywords. Specify keywords when you want to filter the distribution destination services that are displayed in Candidate services for distribution. Specify a character string of 1 to 1,024 characters to filter the services that will be displayed. To perform a multi-keyword search by using AND or OR, delimit keywords by using a single-byte space, a two-byte space, or a tab. A delimiter is counted as one word. The maximum number of words that can be entered as filtering keywords is 100.

Filter button

Filters services by using the string specified in the text box.

Clear button

Clears the filtering status and the filtering condition.

AND

Select this option button to perform an AND search.

OR

Select this option button to perform an OR search.

Candidate services for distribution

Displays services (services for which the source service, product, and data model version for distribution are the same) that can be specified as a destination for distribution within the business group specified in Filter of services for distribution.

If there are no services that can be selected as a destination for distribution in the business groups you specified, an empty list is displayed.

Arrow buttons ([Figure]/[Figure]/[Figure]/[Figure])

Use these buttons to move the displayed services between Candidate services for distribution and Selected services for distribution.

Moves the selected service from Candidate services for distribution to Selected services for distribution.

[Figure] button

Moves the selected service from Selected services for distribution to Candidate services for distribution.

[Figure] button

Moves all services from Candidate services for distribution to Selected services for distribution.

[Figure] button

Moves all services from Selected services for distribution to Candidate services for distribution.

Selected services for distribution

Displays all services added from Candidate services for distribution. The services displayed here are not affected by Filter of services for distribution.

Area for displaying details about the selected service

Displays detailed information about the service from among those selected in Candidate services for distribution or Selected services for distribution that was displayed last. Information is displayed only when one service is selected.

(2) Distribute Property > Select Property window

The Distribute Property > Select Property window is used to select the properties to be distributed.

The following figure shows the Distribute Property > Select Property window.

The following describes the displayed items:

Contents area:

Displays hierarchically the properties of the Collector service or Store service of the monitoring agent selected as the distribution source.

Select All button

Selects all check boxes in the Apply column.

UnSelect All button

Clears all check boxes in the Apply column.

Cancel button

Cancels the operation, and clears the information frame.

< Back button

Returns to the Distribute Property > Select Service window.

Finish button

Applies the settings, and distributes the property values selected in the navigation frame to the destination service selected in the Distribute Property > Select Service window. When distribution starts, the Distribute Property > Progress Reports window opens.

This button is available only when at least one distribution service is selected in the Distribute Property > Select Service window, and properties are selected for distribution in the Distribute Property > Select Property window.

Property list area:

When you select a node in the contents area, this area lists the properties of the node. The properties that are displayed are described after the following reference note.

Note

When you select properties that are specific to an agent, the display items differ. For details about the items displayed when an agent specific property is selected, see 1.8.4(4) Distribute Property > Select Property window (distributing properties for which the number of nodes change).

Apply

Distributes properties of the selected service to multiple destination services.

When this check box is selected, the corresponding property is distributed to the services.

Name

Displays the names of properties.

Value

Displays the values set for the properties.

Description

Displays the description of a property.

Note

If you use the navigation frame or the method frame in the Services window while using the window for distributing properties, a confirmation message appears.

(3) Distribute Property > Progress Reports window

The Distribute Property > Progress Reports window is used to display the progress of the distribution processing.

The following figure shows the Distribute Property > Progress Reports window.

The following describes the displayed items:

OK button

Completes the distribution processing and clears the information frame. This button is inactive when batch processing starts. The button is activated in either of the following cases:

  • When the distribution processing has been completed

  • When the processing is canceled (the Stop button is clicked, after which distribution to the current service is completed)

Stop button

Stops the processing after completing distribution to the current service. The properties are not distributed to the next service.

This button is deactivated once it is clicked.

Message

The following character strings are displayed depending on the processing status.

Progress bar:

The bar displays the progress of batch distribution for each service.

Distribution result list:

Displays the service names of the destination services to which property distribution has been completed, and the results. When property distribution is successful, Done appears in Property Distribution. If property distribution fails, Not done appears in Property Distribution.

Each time a distribution is completed, the corresponding service is displayed at the top of the list. The first service to which property distribution was completed is therefore displayed at the bottom of the list.

Note

While using the window for distributing properties, if you use the navigation frame or the method frame in the Services window, the process stops after distribution to a running service is completed, and a confirmation message appears.

(4) Distribute Property > Select Property window (distributing properties for which the number of nodes change)

Depending on the Performance Management product, there are properties for which the number of nodes might dynamically increase or decrease due to the addition or deletion of nodes in the Service Properties window. Such properties can also be distributed in the Distribute Property > Select Property window.

Depending on the Performance Management product, there are properties for which the number of nodes might dynamically increase or decrease due to the addition or deletion of nodes in the Service Properties window.

When you distribute, in a batch, properties for which the number of nodes change, the Distribute Property > Select Property window is displayed for distributing the tree structure.

Note

To distribute, in a batch, properties for which the number of nodes change, the versions of PFM - Manager and PFM - Web Console must be 08-11 or later.

The following figure shows an example of the Distribute Property > Select Property window when the number of nodes changes dynamically for the distribution of properties.

The following describes the displayed items:

Contents area:

Displays hierarchically the properties of the Agent Collector and Remote Monitor Collector services selected as the distribution source.

Cancel button

Cancels the operation, and clears the information frame.

< Back button

Returns to the Distribute Property > Select Service window.

Finish button

Applies the settings, and distributes the nodes and the properties selected in the navigation frame to the destination service selected in the Select Service window. When distribution starts, the Distribute Property > Progress Reports window opens.

This button is available only when a destination service is selected, and any of the following conditions is satisfied:

  • Properties for which Apply is selected exist.

  • Add or Delete is selected in Operation.

  • Delete nodes that only exist at the distribution destination is selected.

Property list area:

When you select a node in the contents area, nodes that can be added or removed from under that node are listed. The display items are as follows:

Name

Displays the names of nodes.

Operation

Use one of the following radio buttons to select the operation you want to perform on the node:

  • Update

    Updates the properties of a node when the node exists in both the distribution source agent and the distribution destination agent, and the Apply check box is selected for properties in the Select Property window.

  • Add

    Adds a node that exists in the distribution source agent, but does not exist in the distribution destination agent. For a node that exists in both the distribution destination agent and the distribution source agent, the selection status of the Apply check box in the Select Property window is ignored and all the properties of the node are updated.

  • Delete

    Deletes a node that exists in both the distribution source agent and the distribution destination agent.

Delete nodes that only exist at the distribution destination

Deletes nodes that exist only in the distribution destination agent.

Note

Properties to be added to a node or to be updated or deleted can be manipulated in the same way as properties that are common to the agents.
