1.4.13 Edit Agent Tree window

The Edit Agent Tree window is used to edit agents in the Agents tree. To display this window, from the method frame in the Agents window, choose Edit Agent Tree.

Note that you can use the Edit Agent Tree window only for the agents tree that appears when User Agents is selected in Display format. When Products is selected, the Agents tree cannot be edited.

The following describes the displayed items:

Refresh

Updates the Edit Agent Tree window to the latest status.

Copy button

Copies the selected monitoring agent or folder. This button is enabled only when a monitoring agent or folder has been selected from the Agents tree in the contents area.

Clicking this button displays the Edit Agent Tree > Copy [Select Copy Place] window. If a folder is selected, all of its subfolders and monitoring agents will also be copied.

Delete button

Deletes the selected monitoring agent or folder. This button is enabled only when a monitoring agent or folder has been selected from the Agents tree in the contents area.

Clicking this button displays a message box for confirming your deletion intent. If a folder is selected, all of its subfolders and monitoring agents will also be deleted.

New Folder button

Creates a new management folder for monitoring agents. This button is enabled only when the root or a folder is selected from the Agents tree in the contents area.

Clicking this button displays the Edit Agent Tree > New Folder window.

New Agent button

Creates a new monitoring agent. This button is enabled only when the root or a folder is selected from the Agents tree in the contents area. Clicking this button displays the Edit Agent Tree > New Agent window.

Rename button

Renames the selected folder. This button is enabled only when a folder is selected from the Agents tree in the contents area.

Clicking this button displays the Edit Agent Tree > Rename window.

Text box

Use this text box to filter agents by keywords. Specify a character string of 1 to 1,024 characters to filter the agents that will be displayed. To perform a multi-keyword search by using AND, delimit keywords by using a single-byte space, a two-byte space, or a tab. A delimiter is counted as one word. The maximum number of words that can be entered as filtering keywords is 100.

Filter button

Filters agents by using the string specified in the text box.

Clear button

Clears the filtering status and the filtering condition.

Contents area

Displays the Agents tree created by the login user. You can edit the Agents tree displayed here.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Edit Agent Tree > Copy [Select Copy Place] window

The Edit Agent Tree > Copy [Select Copy Place] window is used to select the copy destination for the object selected in the contents area of the Edit Agent Tree window. To display this window, in the Edit Agent Tree window click the Copy button.

The following describes the displayed items:

Refresh

Updates the Edit Agent Tree > Copy [Select Copy Place] window to the latest status.

OK button

Copies the monitoring agent or folder selected as the copy source to the root or folder selected as the copy destination.

If any of the following is applicable to the folder at the copy destination, the copy operation will be disabled:

  • The copy destination already contains a folder with the same name as the copy source folder.

  • Copying the source will exceed the maximum number of hierarchies.

  • Copying the source will exceed the maximum number of elements per node.

The maximum number of hierarchies is 8. In the root or a folder, the maximum number of folders is 64, and the maximum number of the agents is 128.

Cancel button

Cancels the operation.

Contents area

Displays the Agents tree created by the login user. From the Agents tree displayed here, select the copy destination. The root or a folder can be selected.

(2) Edit Agent Tree > New Folder window

The Edit Agent Tree > New Folder window is used to create a new folder under the object selected in the contents area of the Edit Agent Tree window. To display this window, in the Edit Agent Tree window, click the New Folder button.

The following describes the displayed items:

OK button

Adds a folder with the name entered in New folder name under the object selected in the Edit Agent Tree window.

If any of the following is applicable to the target folder, the new folder cannot be created:

  • A folder with the name entered in New folder name already exists.

  • Adding the folder will exceed the maximum number of hierarchies.

  • Adding the folder will exceed the maximum number of folders that can be placed in the root or a folder.

The maximum number of hierarchies is 8. The maximum number of folders is 64.

Cancel button

Cancels the operation.

New folder name

Enter a folder name by using 1 to 64 single-byte or two-byte characters.

You can enter both single-byte and two-byte characters for a folder name.

(3) Edit Agent Tree > New Agent window

The Edit Agent Tree > New Agent window is used to create a new agent under the object selected in the contents area of the Edit Agent Tree window. To display this window, in the Edit Agent Tree, click the New Agent button.

The following describes the displayed items:

Refresh

Updates the Edit Agent Tree > New Agent window to the latest status.

OK button

Adds under the object selected in the Edit Agent Tree window the monitoring agent selected in the contents area.

The maximum number of agents in the root or a folder is 128.

Cancel button

Cancels the operation.

Create a folder by using the host name

To create a folder having the host name under the folder path for the User Agents tree to which the agent selected in this window is added, select the Create a folder by using the host name check box. If you do not want to add the host name to the folder path for the User Agents tree, clear the Create a folder by using the host name check box.

The host name varies depending on the agents added to the User Agents tree. If remoted agents are added, the name of the monitored host is added to the path. When other agents are added, the name of the monitoring host is added to the path.

Tip

After the agents are added, only the folder with the name of the host which the first of the added agents belongs to is opened.

Destination Folder

Displays the path to the folder in the User Agents tree to which the agent selected in this window is added.

Display separately by business group

Displayed when the business group access control functionality is enabled.

If you select this check box, the tree for each business group is displayed.

Display only unregistered agents

Select this check box if you want to display only agents that are not registered in the User Agents tee. To display all agents, clear this check box.

Text box

Select this option button to perform an AND search.

OR

Select this option button to perform an OR search.

Contents area

Displays the Agents tree for products (the root is Products). From this Agents tree, select a monitoring agent that is to be managed in the desired Agents tree. You can select only a monitoring agent.

Tip

If you click the root or a folder, you can select or clear all nodes under the selected folder. If you click a folder in which all or some nodes are cleared, all nodes under the folder are selected. However, if you click a folder that contains only selected nodes, all nodes under the folder are cleared. If there are any subfolders under the folder you click, the status of the nodes contained in the subfolders also changes. In short, you can switch the selection status of all nodes contained in a tree by clicking the root.

(4) Edit Agent Tree > Rename window

The Edit Agent Tree > Rename window is used to rename the folder selected in the contents area of the Edit Agent Tree window. To display this window, in the Edit Agent Tree window, click the Rename button.

The following describes the displayed items:

OK button

Renames the folder selected in the Edit Agent Tree window.

If a folder with the same name as the one you entered in New folder name already exists, you cannot change the folder name.

Cancel button

Cancels the operation.

Current folder name

Displays the selected folder's current name. You cannot make an entry in this field.

New folder name

Enter a new folder name by using 1 to 64 single-byte or two-byte characters.

You can enter both single-byte and two-byte characters for a folder name.
