3.5.1 What to check before installing
- User logged in to the machine

Installation and setup must be performed by users with Windows administrator privileges. You must start the tasks by selecting Run as administrator.
The use of an OS user name containing single-byte symbols is not allowed.
- Machine requirements

The installation machine must support IPv4. For other specifications, see the server machine specifications in 3.3.1 Recommended specifications for a machine running Navigation Platform.
- Free disk space

The disk on which Navigation Platform is to be installed must have at least 25 GB of free space.
We recommend securing an extra margin of free disk space for installation of Navigation Platform. If you have only the minimum amount of free space, you might encounter problems such as running out of space soon after Navigation Platform starts.
- Status of Windows Firewall service

Make sure the Windows Firewall service is running. If the Windows Firewall service is stopped, installation processing will be suspended.
- Installation directory

The installation directory is subject to the conditions listed below. If these conditions are not satisfied, Navigation Platform might not work correctly.

The directory name must not exceed 60 characters, and must use only the following characters:
Single-byte alphanumeric characters (A to Z, a to z, 0 to 9)
Single-byte spaces
Single-byte backslashes (\)
Single-byte colons (:)

For the path separator character, use a single backslash character (\). Do not use double backslash characters (\\).

Do not specify a network drive or the root of a drive as the installation destination.

The name of the directory must contain no leading or trailing spaces.

If you include a single-byte space in the path name of the installation directory, there cannot be a file or directory that shares the same path name up to the single-byte space. For example, if there is a directory called C:\Program, you cannot specify the installation directory C:\Program Files.

The installation directory must not include directories that start with a single-byte period (.).
