13.2 When a running task fails

If a task being executed fails, resolve the issue that caused the failure, and then submit the task for execution again. You can re-submit tasks by re-executing or retrying them.

Preparation

  1. Select the failed task in the Tasks view.

  2. Check the failed steps in the Task Monitor view.

    In the Steps view of the Task Details dialog box, check the return value of the failed step.

  3. Click the View Task Log button to check the task log.#

    If either of the following cases applies, the JP1 user might not have sufficient permission.

    • The KNAE00216-E message appears and you cannot obtain log data for the task.

    • In the Steps view of the Task Details dialog box, the return value of the applicable step shows 66.

    Set the necessary JP1 user permissions, and then configure the execution agents manually. For setting details, see What to do if an attempt to set execution agents for the task processing engine fails in the Job Management Partner 1/Automatic Operation Configuration Guide.

  4. From the information related to plug-in definitions in the log data, identify which plug-in failed.

  5. In the task log, identify the cause of the problem from the return value of the plug-in.

  6. Take action according to the error messages and exception details in the task log.

  7. Review the requirements for the service template, and make sure that your environment fulfills the requirements.

  8. After eliminating the cause of the problem, resubmit the failed task.
