1.6.12 Task statuses and status transitions

The following table lists the task statuses used in a JP1/AO system.

Table 1‒13: Task statuses

No.

Category

Task status

Description

1

Waiting

Waiting

This status applies to:

  • Tasks that are generated but have not started executing

  • Recurring tasks in the interval after one task finishes and before the next begins

2

Holding

This status applies to recurring tasks that have been suspended.

3

Running

Now running

This status indicates that the automated process corresponding to the task is running.

4

Waiting for Response

This status applies to tasks whose corresponding automated process requires a response from a user.

5

Abnormal Detection

This status indicates that an error has been detected in the automated process corresponding to the task.

6

Stopped

This status indicates that a user has stopped execution of or forcibly stopped the task, and JP1/AO is in the process of stopping the corresponding automated processes.

7

Stopped

Completed

Indicates that the corresponding automated process has finished normally.

8

Failed

Indicates that the corresponding automated process has not finished normally.

A failure occurs when:

  • A task times out while waiting for a response

  • The automated process corresponding to a task stops because an error occurred#

  • JP1/AO has stopped a task in response to a stop request from a user

  • JP1/AO has stopped a task in response to the forced stop operation by a user

9

Canceled

Indicates that a user has canceled the task schedule, preventing a scheduled or recurring task from being executed.

#

If a user stops a task while its final plug-in is being executed, the task ends normally.

The following figure illustrates the transitions between task statuses. The labels in the figure correspond to the numbers in the Task statuses table.

Because JP1/AO acquires task statuses at fixed intervals, the user interface might skip a number of status transitions.

For the transitions between task statuses after restoration, see 1.13.1 Notes on backup and restoration.

For the transitions between task statuses when JP1/AO restarts services, see 1.13.2 Notes on restarting JP1/AO services.
