1.6.8 Retrying tasks

You can retry a failed step within a failed task, or a step after the failed step. You can retry the step with the inherited property value and the same task ID. Note that the following value is applied to the service share property:

In addition, the execution timing is Immediate.

Important note

If there is no failed step in a task, and the task is restored by using the restoresystem command, you cannot retry steps.

Updating task information by retrying steps

Data that is not updated

Task ID, task name, task description, input property, execution timing, and start time

Data to be updated

End time

The end time is updated when a retried task finishes.

Retry possibilities depending on task statuses

Depending on the status of the ended task or step, retry possibilities vary. The following examples explain whether the task or step can be retried according to the task or step status:

When a task failed in a step that does not contain the Repeated Execution Plug-in

When a task is retried, if you select Retry the Task From the Step After the Failed Step, the failed step ends normally, and the step after the failed one is executed.

When a task failed in a step that contains the Repeated Execution Plug-in

When a task is retried, if you select Retry the Task From the Failed Step, the first and the subsequent steps of the Repeated Execution Plug-in are retried.

If you select Retry the Task From the Step After the Failed Step, the next and the subsequent steps of the Repeated Execution Plug-in are retried. The steps of the Repeated Execution Plug-in terminate normally, but the statuses of the steps that were already executed under the Repeated Execution Plug-in remain the same.

In addition, depending on whether the condition for executing subsequent steps is set for the Repeated Execution Plug-in step, if a step under the Repeated Execution Plug-in fails, the status of the Repeated Execution Plug-in step might be Completed. In this case, you cannot retry the step of the Repeated Execution Plug-in.

When a step ended with a warning, and a task failed

Because there is no failed step, you cannot retry steps.

When the last step of a task failed

When you retry a task, if you select Retry the Task From the Step After the Failed Step, the failed last step ends normally. In this case, the task also ends normally, and you cannot retry steps.

Sessions when a task is retried

When a process fails in a subsequent step of the terminal connect plug-in, a session to the terminal connection destination is disconnected when the task ends. Because of this, if you retry the task, processing of the terminal command plug-in fails. In this case, re-execute the task without retrying it.

Note that when the same repeated execution flow has the terminal connect plug-in and the terminal command plug-in, if you retry from the Repeated Execution Plug-in, the repeated execution flow is retried from the beginning. Therefore, the session is reconnected. As a result, the terminal command plug-in is executed while the session remains connected.
