(1) Notes on Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows NT 4.0 agents
- You cannot enter the following commands from the controller keyboard to execute them on the agent: Ctrl+Esc keys, Alt+Tab keys, and Windows key. Use the action key facility. If the controller is running Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Window XP, Windows 2000, or Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 or later, open the Properties dialog box, open the Window page, and select the Send input of the system key check box. You can then send these keyboard commands from the keyboard to the agent.
- If the agent displays an MS-DOS prompt in full-screen, the controller cannot view the agent screen. Before the remote control facility can be used, the agent must show an MS-DOS prompt in the window.
- Even if the cursor is shown in color on the agent, it is displayed in black and white on the controller.
- The controller may be unable to view graphic images created on the agent using Direct X (Direct Draw) or OpenGL.
- Animation generally requires a large volume of data and excessive loads for transmission. Therefore, when the remote control facility is in use, disable any animation on the agent.
- When the controller attempts to reconnect to an agent that has not recognized the controller's disconnection operation, the Double Connection dialog box appears. If this dialog box appears, disconnect, then reconnect the agent.
- If the Use local font check box is selected on the Optimize Transaction page in the Properties dialog box, the controller cannot correctly render characters that are displayed as rotated on the agent.
- If the agent is configured to start automatically, the encryption function on the agent may be unavailable after you install Internet Explorer and restart the operating system. In this case, restart the operating system or the agent again.
- If you install or uninstall Remote Control Agent or if you change devices during Remote Control Agent Setup operations, be sure to reboot the agent system.
- Use 256 colors or more for the window colors (color palette).
- The agent does not support the multidisplay (multiple monitors) function.
- The Allow service to interact with desktop setting is enabled for the Remote Control Agent service. Do not disable this setting through Windows Control Panel.
(2) Notes on Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows 2000 agents
- If the agent is configured by opening Control Panel, choosing Mouse, selecting the Pointers tab, and selecting the Enable pointer shadow check box, the mouse cursor display on the controller is duplicated. The mouse cursor shape may be different between the controller and the agent. To resolve this problem, use one of the following two methods.
- On the agent, open Control Panel, choose Mouse, select the Pointers tab, and then clear the Enable pointer shadow check box.
- On the controller, open the Properties dialog box, go to the Optimize Transaction page, and select the Do not show the window animation, etc. check box.
- The mode of the agent will change to the shared mode if one of the following occurs while the agent is in the view mode:
- The Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys are pressed on the agent.
- A hardware error or system error message is displayed or closed.
- A message from the Messenger service of Windows is displayed or closed.
- While the agent is in the view mode, applications that generate keyboard messages or change key assignments will not work normally.
- Before you apply blacking out of the agent display when the connected controller is in the exclusive mode, thoroughly check operation in a test environment. When blacking out of the agent display is specified, the CPU usage might be displayed as 100% on the agent PC, or an unintended image might remain on the screen at intervals of a few seconds.
(3) Notes on Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Vista agents
- During remote control operations, the Windows Aero features such as translucent windows, Taskbar thumbnails, and Windows Flip 3D are disabled.
- When you are using a Windows Aero mouse pointer, mouse performance deteriorates during remote control operation. To prevent deterioration, you must change the mouse pointer design to None.
To change the mouse pointer design to None:
- Open Control Panel, and choose Hardware and Sound and then Mouse.
- In the Mouse Properties dialog box, display the Pointers page.
- In the Scheme list box, select (None).
- Click the OK button.
(4) Note on Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows Vista agents
- When the controller has already been connected, it is disconnected if any of the following operations is performed:
- The user logs off.
- The user is switched.
- Console connection is established by using the Remote Desktop Feature.
(5) Note on Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2008 agents
- When the controller has already been connected, it is disconnected if any of the following operations is performed:
- The user logs off.
- The user is switched.
- Console connection is established by using the Remote Desktop Feature.
(6) Note on Windows Server 2003 agents
- JP1/Remote Control does not support console connections established by the Remote Desktop Feature of Windows Server 2003. Once a console connection is executed by the Remote Desktop Feature, an attempt to connect from the security PC will be rejected. If the controller is already connected, it will be disconnected.
To reconnect the controller, release the lock on Windows Server 2003 at the remote connection destination.
(7) Note on Windows XP agents
- JP1/Remote Control does not support the Windows XP User Switching Feature and Remote Desktop Feature.
When either user switching in Windows XP or remote connection in Windows XP Remote Desktop is executed, connection requests from the controller will be rejected. If the controller is already connected, it will be disconnected.
To reconnect the controller, you must take either of the following actions:
- If connection is rejected due to the User Switching Feature:
Log off all users from Windows XP, and then log on again as the first user.
- If connection is rejected due to the Remote Desktop Feature:
Release the lock on Windows at the remote connection destination.
(8) Notes on Windows NT 4.0 agents
- Some display drivers may cause the mouse cursor to be displayed in duplicate on the controller screen.
- If the controller connects to an agent on which a DirectDraw-based application (such as a Java2 application) is running, you cannot view the screens of that application from the controller. To solve this problem, terminate the application and then restart the agent.
(9) Notes on Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 agents
- Even if you select the Display pointer trails check box (Windows Control Panel - Hardware - Devices and Printers - Mouse - Pointer Options - Visibility), mouse pointer trails are not displayed on the controller screen.
- Do not disable the following applications from Startup in Task Manager, or some functionality might not run properly:
- Remote Control Agent
- Remote Control Chat
- Windows 8 charms cannot be displayed by moving the mouse on the controller's screen if you select the Send mouse movement at click in the window check box on the Optimize Transaction page of the Controller's Properties.
- If a pointer device (such as a mouse) is not connected to an agent PC, an arrow is always displayed for the mouse pointer on the controller's screen.
- If a controller connects to an agent in exclusive mode, and the blacked-out screen is set on the agent, pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete from the controller will have no effect while logged in to the agent PC.
