3.4.10 Device file settings (for Windows NT 4.0)

This dialog box prompts you to change the device file of the agent. This settings window is displayed in the Remote Control Agent Setup dialog box only. It is not displayed in the Remote Control Agent - Properties dialog box.

Remote Control Agent for Windows NT 4.0 switches its device file for the display with that for the Windows system. Without this process, you cannot use the Remote Control Agent.

The device file will be switched when Remote Control Agent is installed. In the case of JP1/Software Distribution Remote Control Agent, the device file will also be switched at the first setup time following installation. At setup time, the following dialog box is displayed, prompting you to switch the device file.

Replacing a device file
The current device file and the substitute device file are identified.
Replace the device file
Select this check box to replace the display device file being used by Windows with the device file that will be used by Remote Control Agent. By default, this check box is cleared. Read the information under Notes to ensure that the display driver being used is compatible with JP1/Remote Control. After confirmation, select the check box.

Notes
The area under Notes displays notes on display drivers and information about the display driver being used by the personal computer. Clicking the Driver List button displays a list of display drivers compatible with JP1/Remote Control. Confirm that the display driver used on the personal computer is compatible with JP1/Remote Control.
On the personal computer where you have installed Remote Control Agent, use a display driver that is compatible with JP1/Remote Control. If the personal computer uses a display driver that is not listed in the driver list, the personal computer or Remote Control Agent may malfunction after JP1/Remote Control Agent is installed.
Driver List
Displays a list of display drivers compatible with JP1/Remote Control.

This dialog box is displayed not only when a setup procedure starts, but also when the device driver is changed after Remote Control Agent is installed. To use Remote Control Agent, confirm that the substitute display driver is compatible with JP1/Remote Control. If this can be confirmed, replace the current display driver with the display driver compatible with JP1/Remote Control.

After this procedure, you need to restart the system before using Remote Control Agent. This allows the system to recognize the new device file, thus enabling the use of Remote Control Agent.
