This subsection explains how to install JP1/Remote Control. The figure below shows the installation procedure.

Administrator privileges are required for installation.
Installer windows and items shown on each window vary from program to program. This manual shows the installer for JP1/Remote Control Agent unless otherwise specified.
Insert the provided CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then follow the instructions of the displayed installer.
When the installer starts, the installation program of JP1/Remote Control starts and displays the Setup dialog box.

To continue the installation, click the Next button. To cancel the installation, click the Cancel button.
When installing JP1/Remote Control Agent for the first time, the Notes dialog box is displayed. Depending on the OS you are installing to, the contents of the Notes dialog box will vary as described below:

If no other vendor's remote control product is installed on the personal computer, click the Next button to continue installation. To cancel the installation, click the Cancel button.Figure 2-4 Notes dialog box (If the operating system is Windows NT 4.0, Windows Me, or Windows 98)
On each personal computer where JP1/Remote Control Agent is installed, confirm that a display driver compatible with JP1/Remote Control is used. If the display driver used on the personal computer is not compatible with JP1/Remote Control, the personal computer or Remote Control Agent may malfunction after JP1/Remote Control Agent is installed.In this step, you register your name and company name.

Enter the necessary information, and click the Next button. Clicking the Back button will return you to the Setup dialog box.
Specify the directory in which you want to install JP1/Remote Control.
This dialog box is displayed for the first installation only. When you perform an overwrite installation, the installation is automatically directed to the existing installation directory.

The default installation destinations are the following (C: is the name of the drive where the OS is installed).
C:\Program Files\Hitachi\jp1rcmgr
C:\Program Files\Hitachi\jp1rcagt
Note, however, that when you install JP1/Remote Control on a computer running Windows Server 2012, 64-bit Editions of Windows 8 or 64-bit Editions of Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64), 64-bit Editions of Windows Server 2008, 64-bit Editions of Windows Vista or Windows Server 2003 (x64), the installation paths contain Program Files (x86) instead of Program Files.
Click the Next button to continue installation.
In this step, you select the installation components and subcomponents. This dialog box is not displayed when performing an overwrite installation over versions 06-51 or earlier. All components are installed.

Select one of the following components to be installed.
You cannot select Chat or Online Help without selecting Remote Control Manager or Remote Control Agent.
Click the Next button to continue installation.
In this step, you specify the program folder where the program icon will be registered. You can change the default folder and select one of the existing program folders. You can also specify program folders in a hierarchical structure by separating folder names with a back slash (\).
This dialog box is displayed for the first installation only. When you upgrade the version, the existing program folder is used automatically.

Click the Next button to continue installation.
The information that will be used to copy the remote control program files is displayed.

Check the settings. If any modifications are required, click the Back button. In case of an overwrite installation, some settings may not be modified.
If all settings are correct, click the Next button. A dialog box appears and file copying starts. The progress of the installation is shown in this dialog box.
When all files are copied, the Installation Complete dialog box appears.

When installing Remote Control Agent, you should select the Start Setup check box in order to launch the setup program immediately following installation.
Depending on the condition of your personal computer, a message may appear stating that the system must be restarted in order to complete installation. If this message appears, follow the displayed instructions to specify whether to restart the system immediately or later.
Click the Finish button to finish the installation.
