You can temporarily suspend and resume system monitoring. In the default setting, system monitoring is started. To stop system monitoring, in Local System Viewer, choose Tools and then Stop System Monitoring. To start system monitoring, choose Tools and then Start System Monitoring. If the Start System Monitoring menu is disabled and cannot be selected, it means that system monitoring is already running. To perform these operations, you need Administrator permissions.

You can also control system monitoring and check its operation from the menu that is displayed by right-clicking the System Monitoring icon. In this case, you can use the system monitoring without starting Local System Viewer. For details about the System Monitoring icon, see 11.8.3 Using the System Monitoring icon.

You cannot use the system monitoring in the following cases:

• The Monitor the system option is not selected in the setup.
  To use the system monitoring, you must select the Monitor the system option.
  
• The client is nonresident (applicable only to JP1/Software Distribution Client (client)).
  To use the system monitoring, on the Default Running Status/Polling page in the client setup, choose Client starts automatically at system boot and restart the PC.
  
• The client has been stopped by Client Manager.
  To use the system monitoring, start the client with Client Manager.
