11.4.1 Configuration of the Package Setup Manager window

Starting Package Setup Manager opens the Package Setup Manager window. This window is composed of two windows, which you can toggle between:

Organization of this subsection
(1) Package window
(2) Installed Software window
(3) Relationship between the windows
(4) Notes

(1) Package window

The Package window shows a list of software programs that have been authorized for installation. The software that is displayed depends on the client's connection destination (higher system). You select and install desired software from this list.

The icon to the left of a package's name indicates the type of the package:

When a package is installed with Package Setup Manager, the results are reported to the higher system. For a successfully installed package, a green circle is displayed on the package icon; for a package that was not installed successfully, a red X is displayed on the package icon. If installation is performed without using Package Setup Manager, a blue circle is displayed on the package icon. This occurs, for example, when a package is installed automatically by a normal remote installation job or when it is installed locally by the client user.

On a client whose version is 8-00 or newer, the icon for a differing-components package is displayed, but the package cannot be installed.

For details about operations that can be performed using the Package window, see 11.4.2 Installing from Package Setup Manager.

(2) Installed Software window

The Installed Software window shows a list of software programs that have been installed on the client, and includes both software installed using JP1/Software Distribution and software that was installed locally.

For details about what is displayed on the Installed Software window, see 11.4.3 Confirming the status of software installation.

(3) Relationship between the windows

The two windows that are displayed in the Package Setup Manager window are interlinked. When a package is installed using Package Setup Manager, the green circle is displayed for the icon in the Package window, and additional information about the software is added in the Installed Software window.

When software displayed on the Package window is installed locally, the resulting information is displayed on the Installed Software window, and the icon on the Package window is changed to the blue circle.
