9.1.2 Outputting information to a CSV-formatted file

This section explains how to export managed information to a CSV file.

To output information to a CSV file:

  1. Evaluate the CSV file to be output.
Determine whether the CSV file is to be converted to Unicode.
If you going to output the CSV file in Unicode, you must specify the registry for output of Unicode CSV files. For details about the settings for this registry, see 4.6 Registry settings (JP1/Software Distribution Manager) in the manual Setup Guide. Also, if necessary, you must have edited in advance the locale to code page mapping table and the host to code page mapping table. For details about these settings, see 9.1.4 Conversion rules for outputting CSV files in Unicode.
If you are not going to output the CSV file in Unicode, there is no need to set the registry or to edit the locale to code page mapping table or the host to code page mapping table.
  2. Start the CSV output utility.
You can start the CSV output utility in two ways: If you are going to output the CSV file in Unicode, you must start the CSV output utility from JP1/Software Distribution Manager.
    • Choose the CSV Output Utility icon in JP1/Software Distribution Manager or JP1/Software Distribution Client group.
If you are using a relational database, the JP1/Software Distribution Manager Logon dialog box appears. Specify the required items in this dialog box. When JP1/ Software Distribution users are managed in linkage with JP1/Base, specify the user name and password of a JP1 user who has permission to operate the CSV output utility.
    • With Remote Installation Manager, from the File menu, choose Output to CSV File.
The CSV Output Utility dialog box is displayed. When you start the CSV output utility from the Remote Installation Manager, it is not necessary to log into Inventory Viewer. You also need not log in when JP1/ Software Distribution users are managed in linkage with JP1/Base.
  3. In the CSV Output Utility dialog box, specify the output items and the name of the output file.
    • In JP1/Software Distribution Manager
In the CSV Output Utility dialog box, specify the output range. For details about the specification, see 9.1.3 Setting the output range of a CSV file.
    • In JP1/Software Distribution Client (relay system)
Specify a desired template name and output file name, and then choose Execute.
The inventory information is output to the CSV file.
