(1) Difference in registered information depending on the assigned item settings for the group name
To register group names using JP1/Software Distribution's user inventory information, select either the group information or user name in the user inventory as the assigned item.
If you use the group information in the user inventory as the assigned item, also specify whether provision is to be made to register new groups that are not in Asset Information Manager.
- When using the user name in user inventory as the assigned item
- The user name in the user inventory information is assigned to the user information. If the corresponding user has been registered, that user's group is registered in the asset information Group name.
- If the corresponding user has not been registered in the user information, that user is not registered.
- This setting enables you to use Asset Information Manager's group information even when the group information is managed by JP1/Software Distribution.
- When using the group information in user inventory as the assigned item and registering new groups
- The group name acquired from the user inventory information is converted to the representation used by Asset Information Manager according to JP1/Software Distribution's hierarchy. The resulting value is then assigned to the group information and the corresponding group is registered in the asset information Group name.
- If there is no corresponding group, a new group is added to the group information, and the information about the added group is registered in the asset information Group name.
- When using the group information in user inventory as the assigned item and not registering new groups
- The group name acquired from the user inventory information is converted to the representation used by Asset Information Manager according to JP1/Software Distribution's hierarchy. The resulting value is then assigned to the group information, and the corresponding group is registered in the asset information Group name.
- If there is no corresponding group, no group is registered.
The figure below shows an example of using the user name in the user inventory as the assigned item.

(2) Setting an assigned item for groups

Figure 9-45 Assign Inventory - Group dialog box
![[Figure]](FIGURE/ZU113300.GIF)
From the items displayed in the Assign Inventory - Group dialog box, select an assigned item:
- Do not set (default)
A group name is not registered from the user inventory information.
If the setting is used in which group names are registered using Group-Specific IP Group, group names specific to IP groups are registered.
- Enter the group to which the user belongs
Registers the group information Group name from the user name in the user inventory information via Asset Information Manager's user information User name.
This option enables you to register groups from Asset Information Manager's information even if group information is not managed in the user inventory information. In this case, the user acquired from the user inventory information must have already been registered as an Asset Information Manager user.
If you select this item, make sure that the settings for registering the acquired user inventory information in the asset information User name are specified.
- Get from the user inventory
Registers the group names acquired from the user inventory information in the asset information Group name. If this option is selected, set Group01 through Group10 according to the group hierarchy in JP1/Software Distribution.
If the Add check box is selected and there is no corresponding group in Asset Information Manager's group information, the group name is newly registered.
For details about how a group hierarchy is created in JP1/Software Distribution, see the Define User Inventory dialog box that is displayed from Remote Installation Manager. For Group01 through Group10, set the same character string as Item name in the Define User Inventory dialog box.
For details about creating a group hierarchy in JP1/Software Distribution, see the manual Job Management Partner 1/Software Distribution Administrator's Guide Volume 1, for Windows systems.
Set the update method for the value selected to the item to be assigned to Overwrite setting.
- Overwrite (default)
Even if a value is already registered in the asset management database, it is overwritten with the value in the collected inventory information. If the applicable value in the collected inventory information is NULL or N/A, the value that has been registered is deleted.
- Overwrite (Not overwritten if NULL or N/A.)
Even if a value is already registered in the asset management database, it is overwritten with the value in the collected inventory information. However, if the applicable value in the collected inventory information is NULL or N/A, it is not overwritten.
- Not overwritten
If a value is already registered in the asset management database, it is not overwritten.
(3) Setting an assigned item for locations
To set an assigned item for locations, use the Assign Inventory - Location dialog box, which is displayed by clicking the Browse button for Location information.Location name in the Assign Inventory window.

![[Figure]](FIGURE/ZU113400.GIF)
From the items displayed in the Assign Inventory - Location dialog box, select an assigned item:
- Do not set (default)
A location is not registered from the user inventory information.
If the setting is used in which locations are registered using Location-Specific IP Group, locations specific to IP groups are registered.
- Get from the user inventory
Registers the location names acquired from the user inventory information in the asset information Location name. If this option is selected, set Location01 through Location10 according to the group hierarchy in JP1/Software Distribution.
If the Add check box is selected and there is no corresponding location in Asset Information Manager's location information, the location name is newly registered.
For details about how a location hierarchy is created in JP1/Software Distribution, see the Define User Inventory dialog box that is displayed from Remote Installation Manager. For Location01 through Location10, set the same character string as Item name in the Define User Inventory dialog box.
For details about creating a location hierarchy in JP1/Software Distribution, see the manual Job Management Partner 1/Software Distribution Administrator's Guide Volume 1, for Windows systems.
- Note
- The Attribute of newly added location information is always Area. After registering the information, you can use the Location window to change it as appropriate to the actual location.
- For details about using the Location window, see 4.3 Changing information about asset locations (Location) in the manual Administrator's Guide.
