7.3.5 Installing an additional Application Server for Developers (where Application Server version 10 or later has already been installed)

You can install Application Server for Developers in a new directory on the same computer where Application Server (version 10 or later) has already been installed. To install an additional Application Server for Developers, start the Hitachi Integrated Installer dialog box by using the provided media of the product, and then select the Install a new instance of this application radio button in the Existing Installed Instances Detected dialog box.

Procedure

  1. If a server or domain is running on an instance of Application Server that is installed, perform the following procedure to stop the server or domain:

    1. To stop Application Server, run the stop-servers subcommand of the asadmin utility command.

      asadmin stop-servers

      When this command is run, the result is displayed as follows:

      Command stop-servers executed successfully.
    2. To stop a domain, run the stop-domain subcommand of the asadmin utility command.

      asadmin stop-domain domain_name

      When this command is run, the result is displayed as follows:

      Command stop-domain executed successfully.
    3. To display a list of domains, run the list-domains subcommand of the asadmin utility command.

      asadmin list-domains

      When this command is run, the result is displayed as follows. Ensure that the statuses of the stopped domains are not running.

      Name:  domain1 Status:  not running
      Name:  domain_name Status:  not running
      Command list-domains executed successfully.
  2. Specify settings for the Windows services so that the service of the domain administration server that is installed is started manually.

  3. Insert the provided media of the product into the corresponding drive.

    The Hitachi Integrated Installer dialog box starts automatically.

    If the Hitachi Integrated Installer dialog box does not start automatically, then in Windows Explorer, double-click the corresponding_drive:\HCD_INST.EXE file.

  4. Select the product to be installed (Hitachi Application Server for Developers), and then click the Install button.

  5. In the Confirm Starting of Installer dialog box, verify the message asking whether to start the installation and then click the OK button.

  6. Select Install a new instance of this application in the Existing Installed Instances Detected dialog box, and then click the Next button.

    If the re-distribution library of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package is not installed, a message asking whether to install the re-distribution library is displayed in the Preparing Setup dialog box. Install the re-distribution library. If a message is output indicating that installation of the redistribution library failed, take the appropriate actions in accordance with the message.

  7. In the Choose Destination Location dialog box, verify the Destination Folder. If required, change the installation location in the Choose Folder dialog box by clicking the Browse button, and then click the OK button.

    The default value for the Destination Folder is system_drive\Hitachi\APServer_n. The value n is automatically numbered with single-byte numbers by the integrated installer.

    A maximum of 115 single-byte characters can be specified. Note that you can specify only half-width alphanumeric characters, half-width space characters, hyphens (-), and underscores (_). In addition, you can specify half-width parentheses ((, and )) for the default path of the OS, as in C:/Program Files (x86).

  8. In the Choose Destination Location dialog box, click the Next button.

  9. In the Display name dialog box, specify the name to be displayed in the Start menu and the uninstallation information. Then, click the Next button.

    The default value is APServer_n, where n is automatically numbered with single-byte numbers by the integrated installer.

    A maximum of 40 single-byte characters can be specified. Note that you can specify only half-width alphanumeric characters, half-width space characters, hyphens (-), and underscores (_).

  10. In the Select Features dialog box, click the Standard button.

    • The "Standard" installation option installs all of the programs. We recommend you use this installation option.

      If you click the Next button without selecting an installation type, then the Standard installation option is selected and executed.

    • The "Custom" installation option installs the selected programs only. This feature is available for users or system administrators familiar with Application Server for Developers.

      When you click the Custom button, the Select Programs dialog box is displayed. Remove the check boxes for the programs you do not want to install, and then click the Next button.

  11. To install Eclipse, which is included in the package, select Install Eclipse, and then click the Next button.

    Note:

    We do not support Eclipse except for the Eclipse plug-in features provided by Application Server for Developers. For details about how to use Eclipse and how to troubleshoot Eclipse errors, the user needs to research information and take appropriate action themselves.

    If you install Eclipse, Eclipse is set up and the shortcut eclipse is created on the desktop.

  12. In the Start the installation dialog box, verify the contents of "Current Settings" and then click the Next button.

    The following items are displayed in "Current Settings":

    • "Application name"

      In addition to the selected program, Hitachi Application Server -Base and Hitachi Developer's Kit for Java are also displayed.

    • "Indication name"

    • "Installation destination"

    • "Program folder"

    • "Installation type"

      The installation type selected in the Select Features dialog box and the names of the programs to be installed are displayed. If you chose Standard, Standard installation is displayed. If you select Custom, then Custom installation is displayed.

    A dialog box which displays the installation status of all the programs and a dialog box which displays the installation status of each program are displayed. When the installation is complete, the Completing the setup dialog box is displayed.

  13. In the Completing the setup dialog box, click the Finish button.

    The screen for confirming whether to restart the OS appears.

  14. Click the Yes button.

    The OS restarts, and the installation of Application Server for Developers is completed.
