3.5.1 Structure of the IM management node
This subsection describes the structure of an IM management node.
-
Management object
This object is managed by the Intelligent Integrated Management Base. Each management object has a unique SID assigned to it.
When the Intelligent Integrated Management Base receives a JP1 event related to a management object, it evaluates the management object on the basis of the severity, event level, and event status of the JP1 event. The color of the system changes based on the evaluation.
There are two types of nodes to a management object: an object root and an object. An object root, which can be a host or storage, is the highest node managed.
-
Management group
It is a group of management objects, and contains management objects or management groups. A management group does not have a unique SID assigned to it.
When a lower-level management object or management group in a higher-level management group receives a JP1 event and the color of the lower-level management object or group changes, the color of the high-level management group is also changed.
There are four types of management groups: category, infrastructure, system, and root.
-
Root: A group of systems or object root nodes.
-
System: A group of object roots comprising a system.
-
Category: A group of management objects or subcategory that are to be managed.
-
Subcategory: A group of managed objects.
-
The following figure shows an example of management objects and management groups displayed in tree chart format.
For an example of how JP1/IM-Agent is displayed, see 9.5.1(1)(i) Tree Format.
|
When different nodes exist in the same level, they are displayed in order of priority, as follows: root node > system node > object root node > category node > subcategory node = object node. Any other node would have the highest priority.
In order for events to show up in the event view when an IM management node is selected, the events must satisfy one of the conditions provided in the following table.
Condition |
Description |
---|---|
The event is a JP1 event that is registered in the integrated monitoring database. |
The Intelligent Integrated Management server monitors and collects events on the integrated monitoring database to manage the relations between JP1 events and IM management nodes and the information on them. |
The event is an event whose source is the selected IM management node. |
The event view lists the events whose sources are the selected IM management node and all the underlying IM management nodes. |
If a resource group and a business group are set up, the event has the access permissions to those groups. |
If a resource group and a business group are set up, IM management nodes on which the logged-in user has no access permission cannot be viewed in tree chart format. |
The event is an event that can pass through event receiver filters. |
If an event receiver filter is set up, the event view shows limited events according to the settings for the logged-in user. |
