15.1 Taking action if a problem occurs

Take the following actions if a problem occurs while using JP1/IT Desktop Management 2:

  1. Check whether a message is displayed.

    • If a job caused an error, you can use the Detailed Information dialog box to check details about the error. See 15.2 Troubleshooting jobs and take action according to the instructions.

    • If a problem occurs, JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 acquires log data. Check the logs, and then take action. For details about how to check JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager logs, see 15.3.1 Checking log files. For details about how to check JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent logs, see 15.4.1 Checking log files.

  2. Check whether a problem described in Actions to be taken if normal operation is disabled applies.

For details about problems in JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager, see 15.3.2 Actions to be taken if normal operation is disabled. For details about problems in JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent, see 15.4.2 Actions to be taken if normal operation is disabled. Then, take action according to the instructions.

  3. If the problem cannot be solved after actions in steps 1 and 2 are taken, collect maintenance data, and then contact the system administrator.

Log files might contain messages about temporary errors that do not cause problems in operation. For details about messages you are recommended to check, see the manual JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 Messages.

Note:

When you perform GUI operations or execute a command, if a message or dialog box which indicates a disconnection from the server is displayed or output, or GUI operations are terminated, the startup process of the server might be still running after the server PC is started.
