10.4.2 Important notes on checking a job status

This section describes provides important notes on checking a job status.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Holding result reports from relay systems and management relay servers

When a job is executed from the managing server, the managed computers automatically report the results to a higher level system. If the job is executed via relay systems or management relay servers, the relay systems or management relay servers collect their execution results and the results of execution on their managed computers, and send them to a higher level system.

However, if the job execution results are reported from a relay system or management relay server when the network is congested, the network might be overloaded. In such a case, you can temporarily suspend reporting from the relay system or management relay server. To suspend reporting, execute a Hold report job whose destination is set to the relay system or management relay server. Similarly, to resume the reporting, execute a Cancel holding of report job.

To check whether the reporting from the relay system or management relay server has been suspended, select the relay system or management relay server in the System Configuration window or Destination window and then open the Attributes page.

If the relay system or management relay server in reporting suspension status is an ID-management relay computer, the execution results of the jobs specifying that ID group are also held on the relay system or management relay server.

(2) If the display of the host executing a job disappears

If the display of the host executing a job disappears from the Job Status window, the job that was being relayed might have been deleted by Remote Install Manager on the management relay server.

(3) If the status of a job executed through a relay system or management relay server does not change

For the following jobs, the execution status on Remote Install Manager does not change until the file transfer between the relay system or management relay server and a lower system finishes.
