10.3.2 Managing saved jobs and folders

This section describes how to create a folder, and how to edit a saved job and folder.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Creating a folder

Creating a folder for each job type facilitates the job management. Folders can be created in a hierarchical structure. You can create folders no more than four levels deep.

To create a folder:

  1. Bring up the Job Definition window, and select File, and then Create Folder (or click the Create Folder button).

The Create Folder dialog box appears.

  2. Enter a folder name.

Specify a unique name for the folder of no more than 32 single-byte characters (or 16 doublebyte characters). Note the following when you specify a folder name:

    • Note that you cannot specify the space character or the following symbols:

      \, /, *, ", :, ', !, |, ., <, >, ?

    • Folder names are not case sensitive.

  3. After specifying the items, click the Add button.

If you want to add more folders, repeat step 3.

  4. Click the Exit button.

The Create Folder dialog box closes.

(2) Changing a folder name or job name

This section describes how to change the name of a folder or job that has already been specified.

Note that if you change a folder name or a job name before the job is executed, the scheduled job will be deactivated.

  1. Bring up the Job Definition window, and select a folder or job whose name you want to change.

The selected folder or job is highlighted.

  2. Select File, and then Rename.

  3. Specify a name, and press Enter.

The name will be changed to the specified name.

(3) Modifying a saved job

You can modify the destination, execution date and time, and execution limit for a saved job.

To modify a saved job:

  1. Select a job you want to modify in the Job Definition window, and select Edit and then Modify (or double click the selected job).

The Edit Job dialog box appears.

This dialog box allows you to modify the job definitions with steps similar to the Create Job dialog box.

  2. After changing the definitions, save or execute the job.

(4) Deleting a folder or job

This section describes how to delete a folder or a job. Once deleted, the folder or job cannot be recovered. If you delete a folder, jobs and lower-level folders inside the folder will also be deleted.

(a) Deleting a folder or job

  1. Bring up the Job Definition window, and select a folder or job you want to delete.

The selected folder or job is highlighted.

  2. Select Edit and then Delete.

A deletion confirmation dialog box appears. Clicking the Cancel button closes the dialog box without deleting the selection.

(b) Important notes on deleting a folder or job

A job that has an execution date and time set up on the Schedule page appears in both the Job Definition window and the Job Status window. If you want to delete such a job before the specified date and time, you need to delete it not only from the Job Definition window but also from the Job Status window. If you delete such a job only from the Job Definition window, an error will occur at the specified execution date and time because the job definition has been deleted.
