10.1 Creating and executing a job

To execute functions such as remote installation and remote collection, use Remote Install Manager to create and execute a job that provides action definitions. After you execute a job, check the job status and result, and respond accordingly.

The following describes the steps in creating and executing a job.

  1. Creating a job

Use the Create Job dialog box to specify the job name, job destination, job conditions and to create the job. For details about how to do this, see 10.2 Creating a job.

You can customize the window used to create a job, for example by changing the default values or item order. For details about how to do this, see 10.2 Creating a job.

You can save a created job. By editing a saved job, you can easily create similar jobs. A job is saved in each folder in the Job Definition window. For details about how to save a job, see 10.3 Executing and saving a job.

  2. Executing a job.

During job creation, you can choose to immediately execute a job after the creation or specify a date and time to execute the job. Job execution timing can be specified on the Schedule page.

For details about how to execute a job, see 10.3.1 Executing and saving a job.

  3. Checking the execution results.

The Job Status window allows you to check the job status and results. The Job Status window shows the status of the executed jobs for each folder or job hierarchically. The left pane provides the hierarchical structure such as folder and job, and the right pane shows the progress and execution status information inside the hierarchical structure selected in the left pane. For details about how to check the job execution results, see 10.4 Checking the job status.

  4. Reacting to the result.

Check the results of a job in the Job Status window. If the job has completed successfully, delete the job. If the job has not completed successfully, you need to re-execute the job for that destination. You can use the Job Retry dialog box to request job re-execution.

If a problem occurs in a relay system, and managed computers under the relay system cannot execute a job, you can execute a job using another relay system. If there is a job being split distributed, you can forcibly complete the split distribution by transferring the remainder of the package in a single transfer.

For details about such job deletion and re-execution, see 10.5 Actions after checking the job results.

Note:

If the job name and execution timing of a job is identical to those of another job, the deletion or re-execution of job cannot be properly operated. Do not create such jobs.
