JP1 Version 12 JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 Distribution Function Administration Guide

7.6.11 Performing installation on computers that are not running

When you want to distribute packages late at night or on a weekend or holiday, remote installation fails or a job cannot be executed if the destination computer is not running. If a destination computer is not running, JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 enables you to start the computer by using the Client Control facility before executing a job. You can also specify settings to shut down the computer that you started.

To use the Client Control facility to start the destination computer, during job creation, select Start the target computer if it is not running on the Client Control page of the Create Job dialog box. If you want to shut down the computer that you will have started, select the Shut down the client after the job execution option. If the destination computer is an agent for UNIX, Shut down the client after the job execution is disabled.

The following figure illustrates an example of performing installation on a computer that is not running.
