7.6.1 Checking free disk space and other requirements before installation

You can specify the amount of free space on the hard disk or the status of RAM as remote installation conditions.

Even if you do not specify particular settings, when the amount of free space on the hard disk becomes insufficient during remote installation processing, this fact is notified from the managed computer to the server. Then, all the working files and other temporary files used during installation are deleted. However, because margins are not specified for this check of free disk space, sufficient free disk space after installation might not be provided. If necessary, specify disk space requirements, such as at least 10 to 20 megabytes of free disk space required after installation.

If you also specify RAM requirements, you can prevent problems such as operation failure after installation.

These conditions are called system conditions. You can specify system conditions on the System Conditions page in the JP1/ITDM2 Packaging dialog box of the Packager or on the System Conditions page in the Change Installation Conditions dialog box of the Remote Install Manager.

The following figure illustrates an example of checking the amount of free space on the hard disk before installation.
