Organization of this subsection

(1) Installation mode

For the installation mode, select GUI installation mode or Background installation mode.

If you select Hitachi program products or Other companies' software for Package type, GUI installation mode is always selected.

GUI installation mode

This installation mode uses a particular installer (such as an interactive installer). Use this mode if the installer uses a Graphics Device Interface (GDI) as an API, even though it does not have a GUI.

If you use the GUI installation mode to perform remote installation of software that requires user intervention on the screen, disable password protection on the installation target PC before installation. If the installation target PC is password-protected (for example, a dialog box is displayed asking you to simultaneously press the Ctrl+Alt+Delete key), installation of the software is not possible because you cannot interact with the screen. However, if you perform remote installation of a Hitachi program product that supports remote installation, such software does not require user intervention and can be installed even if the PC is password-protected.

Background installation mode

This installation mode does not use a particular installer. Use this mode to install files simply by copying them. Remote installation can be performed only if Windows is running, even if the user who installed JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent is not currently logged on.

(2) Hitachi program product installation

In this area, select whether to perform a new installation or an installation upgrade if you have selected Hitachi program products for Package type. If you select Reinstallation, you cannot change the installation target drive or directory.

New installation

Select this option when newly installing a program product.

Reinstallation

Select this option when upgrading a program product that has already been installed.
