7.1.2 Packaging procedure

This subsection explains the packaging procedure.

The packaging procedure varies depending on whether you are packaging Hitachi program products from Hitachi Integrated Installer or packaging software that includes software or programs by other companies.

The packaging procedure is explained separately for each of the above scenarios, in the sections that follow.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Procedure for packaging Hitachi program products from Hitachi Integrated Installer

To package Hitachi program products from Hitachi Integrated Installer:

  1. In the File window, select the root directory of the drive where Hitachi Integrated Installer is mounted.

You must select the root directory in the left pane of the File window. If you select a directory other than the root directory, files cannot be packaged.

  2. Select Run and then Packaging.

The Program Product List dialog box appears.

  3. Select the Hitachi program product (or products) to be packaged, and then click the Package button.

In this dialog box, specify the package details. For details about how to specify settings in the JP1/ITDM2 Packaging dialog box, see 7.2 Specifying package details.

If you selected multiple program products in the Program Product List dialog box, from the Package name drop-down list box, select the program product to be displayed on the Packaging Information page, and specify all package details.

  4. After specifying all of the necessary settings, click the Execute Packaging button.

    Packaging starts.

When packaging finishes, a dialog box appears, indicating that packaging is finished.

  5. In the Package window, check that the package has been created.

For details about how to check packages, see 7.1.3 Checking the stored packages.

(2) Procedure for packaging other software programs

To package other (non-Hitachi) software programs:

  1. In the File window, select the files or directories to be packaged.

    Multiple files can be selected.

  2. Select Run and then Packaging.

The JP1/ITDM2 Packaging dialog box appears.

The subsequent steps are the same as steps 4 and 5 in (1) above.

You can delete any packages that were created by mistake. To delete a package from the Packager, in the Package window, select the package to be deleted, and then select Edit and then Delete.

You can use the Customize Default Settings dialog box to change the environment (such as the working directory) to be used during packaging, or the default values to be used in the JP1/ITDM2 Packaging dialog box. For details, see 7.2.14 Customizing the packaging environment.
