5.4.3 Notes on linking system configuration information with ID groups

This subsection provides cautionary notes that apply when linking system configuration information with ID groups.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Handling ID groups with passwords

When the system configuration information of a computer registered in a password-protected ID group changes, the ID group information does not change with it.

(2) Linking with jobs

(3) Options during setup

To link system configuration information and ID group information, you need to select the Synchronize changes to the system configuration option. The check box for this option can be found on the Related to System Configurations tab of the Setup for Distribution by Using Remote Install Manager window during setup of JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager. If this option is enabled inconsistently, management information might become inconsistent between higher and lower systems.

(4) Registering relay systems or management relay servers in ID groups

A relay system or management relay server must be registered in an ID group on the local system. If you register the relay system or management relay server in ID groups on a higher system, the system configuration information might not link correctly with the ID group information.

(5) Changing the connection destination of computers registered in ID groups

If you change the connection destination of a computer registered in an ID group, that computer is automatically registered in the ID group at the new connection destination. This process may take some time. Before executing a job with the ID group specified, make sure that the client has been registered in the new ID group. When system configuration information is linked with ID group information, a job adding the computer to the ID group is generated automatically. You can view the status of this job in the Job Status window of Remote Install Manager.
