3.3.2 Notes on shutdown
This section provides notes on using the Client Control facility to shut down computers.

When you attempt to automatically shut down a Windows computer, the computer might fail to shut down or might restart instead. Because this might occur when the hardware or Windows environment does not support automatic shutdown, check whether the hardware is compatible with automatic shutdown. Also, install the most recent updates provided by the hardware manufacturers to make sure that Windows conforms fully to the hardware specifications. If the hardware supports automatic shutdown and installing the latest updates does not resolve the issue, consult the documentation provided by Microsoft or the hardware manufacturer.

Shutdown requests issued to relay systems or management relay servers are ignored.

UNIX computers cannot be shut down automatically.

You cannot specify to shut down a computer for the following jobs executed on a computer running a UNIX or Mac OS: Get system information from computer (UNIX) and Get software information from computer (UNIX).

You cannot automatically shut down a Windows computer whose screen saver is active and password-protected.

A computer cannot be automatically shut down if a file is being edited on the computer when the job with the shutdown instruction is received.

When you execute a job that specifies shutdown from a higher system, the agent software does not behave as intended if the user has not yet logged on to the target computer. That is, the action specified in the Settings to shut down and restart the computer area of the User notification settings page in the agent configuration does not take place.
If the user has not yet logged on, and Automatically start if no response is received from the user within the specified period is selected in the agent configuration, the system shuts down without displaying a confirmation dialog box.
Here, executing a job from a higher system means all types of job execution except using Package Setup Manager on the managed computer.
