1.1.6 Installing software on stand-alone computers
By using storage media such as USB memory, you can install software on a stand-alone computer (offline machine) on which JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent (agent) is installed, without using a network. This is called offline installation. You can also perform offline installation on a computer where job execution has been suspended by a directive from a higher system.
For details about how to perform offline installation, see 7.3.4 Offline installation.
The following figure shows the general procedure for offline installation:
Offline installation is useful when:
-
You want to install a package on a computer that is not connected to a network
-
Package transfer will take a long time because the network is slow or the package is very large
To achieve offline installation using a managing server and offline computer, the following conditions must be satisfied:
- On the managing server:
-
-
JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager is installed.
-
Remote Install Manager is used on the same computer as JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager.
-
- On the offline computer:
-
JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent is installed.
Packages installed by offline installation do not appear on the Installed Packages page of the System Configuration window or in the Installed Packages window of Package Setup Manager. To check whether the software has been successfully installed, you need to open the installation result file in a text editor.
Note that the following functions are not supported by offline installation:
-
Installation of JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent
-
Specifying an installation schedule
-
Restarting the computer automatically after installation
-
Installing software from Package Setup Manager
-
Split distribution and multicast distribution
