4.2.3 Deleting service information

You must delete the service information displayed by the jpctool service list command or the jpctool monitor list command in the following cases:

If you have deleted the service information of the Action Handler service, you are no longer able to execute alarm actions using that Action Handler. Therefore, reset the Action Handler service that executes alarm action.

You can delete service information by using the jpctool service delete command. If communication is impossible because of physical reasons, such as when the LAN cable is disconnected from the PFM - Agent host or PFM - RM host, you cannot delete the service information normally. When executing the jpctool service delete command, make sure that the PFM - Manager host and the PFM - Agent or PFM - RM host are physically connected. You can also forcibly delete service information by executing the jpctool service delete command with the -force option specified.

To delete service information:

  1. Log on to the host where PFM - Manager is installed.

  2. Stop the PFM - Agent or PFM - RM service that you want to delete.

This operation is not necessary if a host has been removed from the system without uninstallation or unsetup of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM having been performed.

  3. Execute the jpctool service delete command by specifying the service ID of the service you wish to delete.

For example, to delete the information on the Agent Store service of PFM - Agent for Oracle on the host02, specify as follows:

jpctool service delete -id OS* -host host02

If a host has been removed from the system without uninstallation or unsetup of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM having been performed, execute the jpctool service delete command with the -force option specified.

  4. Execute the jpctool service sync command.

The time when the service information, which is synchronized by using the jpctool service sync command, is applied to PFM - Web Console differs depending on the version of PFM - Web Console. For details about the jpctool service sync command, see the chapter that describes commands in the manual JP1/Performance Management Reference.

  5. From the tree that is displayed when User Agents is selected from the agent hierarchy in PFM - Web Console, delete the agent that is no longer needed.

Notes on unsetup of remote agents of PFM - RM

After the unsetup procedure has been performed on the remote agents of PFM - RM (after the jpcconf target unsetup command has been executed), there is no need to execute the jpctool service delete command because the service information is deleted automatically.

However, for the new information to be applied to PFM - Web Console after the unsetup procedure, you must execute the jpctool service sync command.

The service information is deleted at the following time:

  • If PFM - Manager and the PFM - RM service subject to deletion are running

When the jpcconf target unsetup command is executed, a service information deletion request is sent from PFM - RM to PFM - Manager and the service information is then deleted by PFM - Manager.

  • If PFM - Manager or the PFM - RM service subject to deletion is stopped

When the jpcconf target unsetup command is executed, the service information is deleted by PFM - Manager the next time the PFM - RM service is started and connected to PFM - Manager.
