6.2 How to make published Operational Content unavailable

After publishing Operational Content, you can make it unavailable to users. To do so, however, you must have Content Manager permission. There are the following two ways to make published Operational Content unavailable to users:

If you want Operational Content to be unavailable temporarily, use the make-private method. Note, however, that you can update Operational Content without stopping its use. Therefore, you do not need to make Operational Content private when updating it.

For example, if the services of your business change, the current Operational Content becomes unnecessary and will no longer need to be published again. In such a case, we recommend that you delete the Operational Content. Note that once you delete Operational Content, you can no longer restore it. Before deleting Operational Content, adequately consider whether deleting Operational Content causes some impact. For details, see 6.2.3 Considerations before deleting published Operational Content.

Tip

If the editing environment and the execution environment are the same, users become unable to use the Operational Content as soon as the Content Manager finishes making Operational Content private.

If the editing environment and execution environment are different, first the Content Manager makes Operational Content private in the editing environment. Then, the system administrator exports the Operational Content data from the editing environment, and imports the data into the execution environment. Users become unable to use the Operational Content when import to the execution environment finishes.
