JP1 Version 12 JP1/Navigation Platform Setup and Operations Guide

6.5 Exporting and importing Operational Contents

If the server machine on which the editing environment or the development environment is configured differs from the server machine on which the execution environment is configured, you will have to export the Operational Contents created in the editing environment or the development environment and import those same Operational Contents to the execution environment.

To export and import Operational Contents, use the commands provided by Navigation Platform. For details about the commands to be used and their usage, see Chapter 9. Commands.

The information that can be exported and imported is the data for Operational Contents and the access permission settings (access permission groups or JP1 resource groups). Note that any static files that are used in Operational Contents must be managed separately because static files cannot be exported or imported by the commands. For details, see 6.9 Managing the static files used in Operational Contents.

Tip
  • Depending on the command used, you can export and import only Published Versions.

  • Even when all environments are configured on one machine, you can use the export operation for backup purposes.

Important

Export and import operations use the folder specified in the TMP or TEMP environment variable as a work folder. Therefore, provide sufficient disk space for the folder specified in the TMP or TEMP environment variable when you perform export and import operations.
