7.2.1 Web Recorder (main) window
The Web Recorder (main) window is used to define a Web transaction. This window is provided in two modes, the IE mode and the direct entry mode. The IE mode is used to define a Web transaction by displaying Internet Explorer windows and recording the browser operations performed in those windows. The direct entry mode is used to edit the step-by-step information that constitutes a Web transaction.
The following describes the displayed items.
- Web transaction file name:
-
Displays the name of the Web transaction file that stores the Web transaction that is being edited.
- Web transaction name:
-
Displays the name of the Web transaction that is being edited.
- Address:
-
Field for entering the URL of a Web page. When you enter a URL and then click the Go button or the Enter key, the page whose URL you have entered is displayed in the IE window section. To use an IP address to specify a host name, use an IPv4 dotted-decimal address (for example: http://172.16.233.12/example.html) or an IPv6 hexadecimal address enclosed in square brackets, using colons as separators (for example: http://[ACE6:45:75:91::1]/example.html).
- Go button:
-
Displays in the IE window section the Web page whose URL was specified in Address.
- IE window section:
-
Shows the Web page whose URL is set in Address. The IE window can be used in the same manner as with a normal browser.
- Notes:
-
You should note the following about the IE mode:
-
Your navigation operations in the IE window depend on the Internet Explorer settings on the machine where PFM - Agent for Service Response is installed. This means that if an application that affects Internet Explorer operations is running at the same time the Web transaction is being defined, the Web Recorder also picks up and records those effects.
-
On the page displayed in the IE window, a script that controls the window itself (for instance, to resize it) may not function normally. A script that opens a new window to display a page can be executed. In such a case, the window is displayed in the same format as the IE window, and normal window components such as menus in Internet Explorer are not displayed. Even when a new window is opened from the IE window, you can continue recording the step information using that window.
-
- Title:
-
Displays the title of the Web page that is displayed in the IE window.
- URL list:
-
Displays the URLs of the recorded step information and the start and end points of scopes. You select items on this list to insert, edit, and delete step information, and to add and delete start and end points of scopes.
- Start Scope and End Scope buttons:
-
Adds a start or end point to a scope. Clicking the Start Scope or End Scope button displays the Select Scope window. For details about the Select Scope window, see 7.2.5 Select Scope window.
The following table lists and describes the menu items in the Web Recorder (main) window.
