4.7.1 Adding the Tasks

The following shows the procedure for adding the Probe Daemon's task definitions and the IE Probe Daemon's task definitions by using PFM - Web Console.

  1. From the monitoring console browser, log on to PFM - Web Console.

The main window of PFM - Web Console appears.

  2. In the navigation frame of the main window, choose the Services tab.

    The Services window appears.

  3. In the navigation frame of the Services window, expand the contents of the monitoring agent host folder, and select the Agent Collector service.

    The Properties page appears.

  4. Expand the hierarchy under the Probe folder, and select the ADD OR DELETE A TASK.

  5. Set properties appear at the bottom of the information frame.

Specify the values of the properties listed in the following table to a new task. None is set by default.

    Property name

    Specifiable value

    New Task ID

Specifies the task ID of a newly created task within the range from 1 to 65,535. The Task IDs must be unique.

If you create a new task, you must specify this item.

    New Task Protocol

Specifies the protocol of a newly created task from the drop-down list. Select HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, POP3, IMAP4, DNS, DHCP, FTP, TCP, WEBTRANS, IESCENA, or USERSERV services.

If you create a new task, you must specify this item.

    Reference note:

Use the Delete A Task property when you delete a task (you can add a task and delete an existing task at the same time). Since the Reserved property is reserved for the system, you cannot use it.

  6. In the bottom of the information frame, click the OK button.

When succeeding in adding the task, the folder protocol name_task ID is created appears under Task List tree.

Immediately after a new task is added, the properties of the task are not defined. Specify the properties to the task. For details about how to specify the properties, see 4.7.3 Setting the Task information.

You must apply information of the added task to the Probe Daemon and the IE Probe Daemon. For details about how to apply information, see 4.7.4 Applying the Task information.
