JP1 Version 11 JP1/Performance Management - Agent Option for Service Response Description, User's Guide and Reference

4.7.3 Setting the Task information

You can use PFM - Web Console to change or check task definitions of the Probe Daemon and the IE Probe Daemon. When you change definitions, note the following:

The following shows the procedure for changing the definitions:

  1. From the monitoring console browser, log on to PFM - Web Console.

The main window of PFM - Web Console appears.

  2. In the navigation frame of the main window, choose the Services tab.

    The Services window appears.

  3. In the navigation frame of the Services window, expand the contents of the monitoring agent host folder, and select the Agent Collector service.

    The Properties page appears.

  4. Expand the hierarchy under the Probe folder, and select the task tree that you want to change and check the task information under Task List.

Each task is displayed as the folder. The node name is protocol-name_task-ID. For example, if the task ID of the Web transaction is 100 and the label name is WEBTRANS, then the node name is WEBTRANS_100 (the label name is not used as node name).

The displayed tasks are sorted by the service type in the ascending order in the Task List, and the tasks of the same protocol are sorted by the task ID in ascending order. If you select the task from the Task List, the properties of the selected task are displayed. You can edit the values of the properties in this window. Yet, you cannot edit the read-only properties.

For details about the properties, see E.2 Agent Collector service properties.

  5. After editing the task properties, click the OK button.

    The specified data is checked:

    When the result is valid:

The Status property of the task becomes Valid. The settings are applied to the measurement condition registration file.

If the element displayed in PFM - Web Console contains the linefeed characters (other than <MESSAGE_BODY > tag of the HTTP, HTTPS service), the linefeed characters are deleted.

    When the result is invalid:

The Status property of the task becomes Invalid. The message is output to the common message log.

If the byte number of the specified string property exceeds the maximum bytes, the first maximum bytes of the specified character strings are displayed (if you use the characters of the double-byte character set and the data in the maximum byte location of the specified character string is the first byte of a character, that character is not displayed). If you enter other than numeric data in the integer properties, 0 is displayed.

You must apply information of the changed task to the Probe Daemon and the IE Probe Daemon. For details about how to apply information, see 4.7.4 Applying the Task information.
