5.1.6 Configuring a Web browser to use the monitoring console

You need to configure the Web browser to use PFM - Web Console:

The following tables list the settings for each browser.

(1) When using Firefox (Windows)

This section describes the settings for Firefox 3.6 as an example.

From Firefox will, select Use custom settings for history. Select the Accept cookies from sites check box. (Whether to select the Accept third-party cookies check box is optional and whether to select a retention period is optional.)

Select Load images automatically.

Content - Enable JavaScript

Click Advanced, and then select Move or resize existing windows check box.

Content - Fonts & Colors

Use the default values.

Content - Languages

  1. Click Choose to display the Languages dialog box. Check whether your preferred language is in the list.

    Japanese: Japanese [ja]

    English: English [en]

    Chinese (Simplified Chinese): Chinese/China [zh-cn]

  2. If your preferred language is not in the list, select a language from the Select a language to add pull-down list.

    If your preferred language is in the list, go to step 4.

  3. Click the Add button.

  4. Click the Move Up button repeatedly until the selected language is displayed at the top of the Language list.

Security - Passwords

Clear the Remember passwords for sites check box.

(2) When using Firefox (UNIX)

This section describes the settings for Firefox 3.6 as an example.

Security - Passwords

Clear the Remember passwords for sites check box.

Before you select a size from the Size box, in the Content tab, under Fonts & Colors, click the Advanced button to display the Fonts dialog box. In the Fonts dialog box, select the character encoding set for the LANG environment variable, which is enabled in the process that started Firefox.

(3) When using Internet Explorer

The example presented here specifies the settings in Internet Explorer 9.0.

Languages

  1. Check the Language list to see if there are languages to be selected.

    Japanese: Japanese [ja] or Japanese (Japan) [ja-JP]

    English: English/Australia [en-au] or English [en]

    Chinese (Simplified Chinese): Chinese (Simplified, PRC) [zh-CN]

  2. If your preferred language is not in the Language list in the Language Preference dialog box, click the Add button to select the language you want to add to the Language list.

    If your preferred language is in the Language list, go to step 4.

  3. Click the OK button.

  4. Keep clicking the Move Up button until the selected language is displayed at the top of the Language list.

(4) Notes on using a Web browser

If your Web browser is Firefox, data might remain in the cache due to the specifications of Firefox, resulting in incorrect display of image data. To prevent this problem, clear the cache.
