2.3.5 Displaying reports

Two types of reports are created with the Performance Management system. One type is for the reports prepared by the system as monitoring templates, and the other type is for user-defined reports.

The following example shows how to display the Memory Available Trend(Multi-Agent) report for a monitoring template of the PFM - Agent for Platform (Windows). The Memory Available Trend (Multi-Agent) report can display the memory usage during the past month for multiple systems. This report is displayed as a line graph.

Reports are displayed mainly from the Agents window.

To display a report:

  1. From the navigation frame in the Agents window, select the agent named host-name <Windows>.

The selected agent is marked with a check mark.

  2. From the method frame, select Display Reports.

The Display Reports > Select Report window is displayed. The reports in the monitoring templates for PFM - Agent for Platform (Windows) are displayed in tree form in the information frame.

  3. From the Windows folder, choose the Operating System folder, and then the Monthly Trend folder, and then click the Memory Available Trend (Multi-Agent) report.

The View Report window for Memory Available Trend (Multi-Agent) is displayed in a separate window.

    [Figure]

For example, checking the reports shows that free memory continues to decrease. In this situation, you can output the report in CSV or HTML format and forward it to the application developers. The developers can then use this information to investigate and resolve the problem.

By using Performance Management to monitor performance, issues can be resolved before they have an effect on business, and potential problems, including system failures, can be prevented.

In this example, the monitoring template definition was used as is, however, depending on your needs, you can customize the monitoring template definition or you can define a specific report instead of using a monitoring template.

For details about how to define reports, see the chapter that explains the creation of reports for operation analysis in the Job Management Partner 1/Performance Management User's Guide.

Reference note: Types of reports and what should be done to display reports

There are two types of reports. Historical reports indicate the past agent status and real-time reports indicate the current agent status. To display a historical report, the system must be configured so that agent performance data is recorded in the Store database. This is not necessary for a real-time report.

For details about the relationship between reports and the Store database and how to use performance data from Performance Management, see the chapter that describes management of operation monitoring data in the Job Management Partner 1/Performance Management User's Guide.
