13.4.2 Defining an AJS3 unit monitored object

You can define an AJS3 unit monitored object under the business scope currently displayed in the map area by dragging the icon to be defined from the icon list and dropping it in the map area.

For defining the AJS3 unit monitored object, specify the host name of JP1/AJS3 - Manager to be monitored and application name (root jobnet). The following figure shows how to define an AJS3 unit monitored object.

Figure 13‒6: How to define an AJS3 unit monitored object

[Figure]

To define an AJS3 unit monitored object:

  1. Drag the icon of the AJS3 unit monitored object from the icon list and drop it in the map area.

When the icon was dropped, the Define Details - [AJS3 Unit Monitored Objects] dialog box appears.

  2. Define the name of the object as well as the host name and AJS3 unit name to be monitored.

    • Name

Enter the name of the AJS3 unit monitored object.

    • Comment

      Enter a comment as needed.

    • Icon file name

When displaying an icon other than the default icon in the map area, input the file name of the icon image.

    • Host name

Specify the JP1/AJS3 - Manager host to be monitored using the host name or IP address.

    • AJS3 unit name

Specify the application (root jobnet) to be monitored using the full path name (including the scheduler service name).

      Example: AJSROOT1:/Order Processing

  3. Click the OK button.

The Define Details - [AJS3 Unit Monitored Objects] dialog box is closed. This creates the icon of the AJS3 unit monitored object in the map area.

Cautionary notes
  • By specifying a unit for AJS3 unit name, you can monitor a root jobnet only. Do not specify the following units, otherwise the monitoring results become unknown status:

    - Job

    - Job group

    - Nested jobnet

    - Planning group

    - Manager job group

    - Manager jobnet

  • If you want to monitor multiple root jobnets on the same host, specify the same host name in Host name for all the root jobnets. If you specify different host names, the system assumes that the root jobnets reside on different hosts and establishes multiple connections.

  • Enter a host name in Host name when the monitoring target JP1/AJS3 - Manager host has been defined with a host name. Enter an IP address in Host name when the JP1/AJS3 - Manager host has been defined with an IP address.

  • Do not enter localhost or a loopback address in Host name.

  • Do not include platform-dependent characters in the text you enter in the text boxes (for example, circled numbers or pictorial symbols).

Supplementary notes
  • If the icon list is not displayed, choose View and then List Icons.

  • You can define up to 500 objects for the entire root business scope. The number of objects to be defined directly under a business scope depends on its map size. For details, see 16.3.6 Map Size dialog box.

  • You can create an AJS3 unit monitored object automatically.

    To automatically created it:

  1. Select the root jobnet to be monitored in the JP1/AJS3 - View window, choose Options, and then Save As Monitored Object.

  2. In the Main Scope window, choose Edit and then Auto-create Monitored Objects.
