12.1 Backing up data in a JP1/AO system (non-cluster configuration)

Back up the configuration information and database information of JP1/AO and JP1/Base before you perform tasks such as migrating JP1/AO to a new host or performing database maintenance.

Important note
  • If you leave too much time after backing up the JP1/Base data, the status of the JP1/AO database will have changed. This can lead to inconsistencies between the data in the JP1/AO database and the JP1/Base backup data. For this reason, back up JP1/AO and JP1/Base in quick succession.

  • When you back up and restore data in a JP1/AO system, some aspects of the data do not survive the backup process. For example, some of the detailed task information (step lists and progress information) is lost, and some task statuses are changed.

You can output detailed task information by executing the listtasks command before backing up data. In addition, you can re-register scheduled tasks and recurring tasks as other tasks with the same settings in a batch by using the output detailed task information, and executing the submittask command after restoration.

  • Make sure that sufficient free space is available on the disk on which the folder for backup files is located. As a general rule, the amount of free space should exceed the size of the backup files by 20 MB.

Who can perform this task:

Users who have Administrator permissions for the OS

To back up a JP1/AO system (non-cluster configuration):

  1. Make sure that there are no tasks in In Progress, Waiting for Response, Abnormal Detection, or Terminated status. If there are such tasks in the system, either stop the tasks, or wait until they enter Completed or Failed status.

  2. Shut down the JP1/AO system by executing the hcmdssrv command with the /stop option specified.

  3. Back up the following JP1/Base configuration information and database. For details about the backup procedure, see Backup and recovery in the Job Management Partner 1/Base User's Guide.

    • Definition file

    • Common definition information

  4. Execute the backupsystem command to back up the database and configuration information for JP1/AO.

    Tip

The files below are not backed up by the backupsystem command. Back them up manually if necessary:

    • SSL server certificate file for HTTPS connection

    • Private key file for HTTPS connection

    • Private keyfile for public key authentication

  5. Execute the hcmdssrv command with the /start option specified to start the JP1/AO system.

Data is backed up to the specified backup folder.
