10.5 Changing the user groups to which a user belongs

This section describes how to change the user groups to which a user belongs.

Who can perform this task:

Users with User Management permission

To change the user groups to which a user belongs:

  1. In the left pane of the Administration window, click User Groups.

  2. In the right pane (User Groups tab) of the Administration window, select the user whose user group affiliations you want to change, and then click the Assign User Groups button.

  3. In the Assign User Groups dialog box, change the user groups to which the user belongs.

    • To assign the user to an additional user group:

      In the Available User Groups area, select the user group to which you want to assign the user, and then click the Add button.

    • To remove a user from a user group:

      In the Selected User Groups area, select a user group to which the user belongs, and then click the Remove button.

  4. Click the OK button.

  5. In the Information dialog box, click the OK button.

The user group affiliations of the user are changed. The user can now operate JP1/AO subject to the roles of the user groups to which he or she belongs.

You can view the new user group affiliations in the User Group column of the Users tab.

Important note

If you change the user group permissions for a logged-in user, that user retains his or her original permissions during the login session. For this reason, the system administrator must instruct any such users to immediately log out and log back in.
